Yesterday, 10/28/17, the team finished their season, competing in the Hinsdale Central Sectional at Katherine Legge Memorial Park. The team finished 13th overall. Jared Tarantino led the way. Justin Hobart, Aidan O'Leary, Grant Wright, and Kyle Madura all scored for the team.
We're so proud of the four seniors (Tarantino, J.Hobart, Madura, and Doherty) and all the work and leadership they have brought throughout their careers. They exemplified what it means to be a Stagg distance runner.
Three of those who raced today with return next year, along with a bunch of guys waiting to fill those spots. 364 days to get better!

This morning, the boys and girls cross country teams donated $1300 to the American Cancer Society in support of the D230 Relay for Life. Thanks to everyone who donated to our fundraiser and helped us raise this HUGE amount!

On Saturday, 10/21, the team traveled to Midlothian Meadows to compete in the Marist 3A Regional. It was a beautiful day, and the Chargers took advantage of the weather. Jared Tarantino (2nd overall) and Justin Hobart (5th overall) led the way, both running lifetime bests of 15:36 and 15:52. Aidan O'Leary (16:43) and Grant Wright (16:47) were next for the team, also running lifetime bests of 20+ seconds. Kyle Madura was the final scorer, as the team finished 2nd overall. John Doherty and Colin Hobart also ran tough races.
With that 2nd place finish, the team moves on to the Hinsdale Central Sectional next Saturday.

The team recently competed in the SWSC Blue division race at Lockport East High School.
The juniors and seniors ran on Sat, 10/14, before the rest of the race was postponed due to weather. Jared Tarantino and Justin Hobart led the way, both earning "all-conference" recognition. Kyle Madura, John Doherty, and Grant Wright also scored for the team, on their way to a 4th place finish.
The freshman and sophomore boys ran on Mon, 10/16. Colin Hobart and Aidan O'Leary were the top finishers, also earning "all-conference" recognition. Christian Gambotz, Peter Gordan, and Peter Rokowski all scored in the 3rd place effort.
Personal bests were run by all of the following: Justin Hobart, Kyle Madura, Grant Wright, Colin Hobart, Brendan Conroy, Kyle Donnahue, Peter Gordan, Matt Aleck, Moe Abuasab, Luca Giaveri, Andrew Rodriguez, Luisse Iringan, Helmi Jaber, Devin Thielmann, Armando Ramirez, Ethan Zickert, and Nick Buralli.

On Saturday, 10/7, the team traveled to Lisle Community Park to participate in the Joe Fedinec Invitational. It was a very windy day, but the boys still put up some impressive times.
In the frosh/soph race, Colin Hobart lead the way, finishing in 17:59 (first time under 18 min!). Peter Gordan, Peter Rokowski, Christian Gambotz, and Kaleb Donnahue all scored for the team, in route to a 5th place finish.
On the varsity level, Jared Tarantino won the race with a time of 16:01. Justin Hobart finished 3rd overall. Brendan Conroy, Grant Wright, and John Doherty all scored as the team finished 3rd overall.

It was a great day to race yesterday at the Joe Mortimer Frosh/Soph Invitational at Turtlehead Lake. After weeks of tough racing conditions, the team finally had a nice day, and they took advantage.
The freshman boys went first, running 2.2 miles. In that race 8 of 9 ran their fastest time of the year, and the 9th was four second off his fastest time. The team was led by Luca Giaveri, Gabe Duda, Luisse Iringan, Alex Florczyk, and Fabian Kinastowski. They finished 17th of 29 teams.
In the sophomore race, 8 of 9 runners also PR'd, with the 9th coming up 9 seconds short. Aidan O'Leary led the way, with Christian Gambotz, Peter Rokowski, Colin Hobart, and Peter Gordan close behind. The team finished 6th of 34 teams.
It was a great day with some fast times. Lots of hardware brought home on the bus.
The juniors/seniors also had a productive workout. They're hungry to race in better weather. Hopefully that will happen next Saturday at the Benet Invitational.

On Saturday, 9/23, the team raced at the very hot Tinley Park Invitational. In the frosh/soph race, Colin Hobart led the way with a time of 18:45. Peter Gordon was close behind with a 18:52. Peter Rokowski, Henry Evans, and Gabe Duda also scored, leading to a 7th place overall finish.
In the varsity race, Jared Tarantino finished in 5th. Justin Hobart was 16th overall. Grant Wright, John Doherty, and Aidan O'Leary also scored. The team finished 4th overall.
Arnas Liesis and Matt Aleck both were top twenty finishers in the open race.

On Saturday, 9/16, the team traveled down to Detweiller Park in Peoria for the Richard Springs Invitational. It was very hot, dry, and dusty.
In the varsity race, Jared Tarantino led the way time of 16:31. Justin Hobart, John Doherty (lifetime PR), Brendan Conroy (lifetime PR), and Grant Wright all scored, as the team finished 40th out of 64 teams.
In the frosh/soph race, Christian Gambotz, Colin Hobart (lifetime PR), and Peter Gordan (lifetime PR) were all within 4 seconds of each other. Kaleb Donnahue (lifetime PR) and Peter Rokowski rounded out the scoring, as the team finished 32 of 48 teams.
In the open race, Kyle Donnahue led the way with a time of 18:17 (lifetime PR). Other lifetime PR's were run by Moe Abuasab, Andrew Rodriguez, Luca Giaveri, Gabe Duda, Helmi Jaber, Luisse Iringan, Bart Kolasa, and Nick Buralli.

On Saturday, 9/9/17, the team competed at the Reavis Invitational.
In the frosh/soph race, Christian Gambotz and Colin Hobart led the team to a 4th place finish (out of 15 teams). Peter Rokowski, Kaleb Donnahue, and Peter Gordan also scored for the team.
On the varsity level, Jared Trantino (2nd overall) and Justin Hobart (10th overall) led the team to a 2nd place finish (out of 15 teams). Aidan O'Leary, John Doherty, and Brendan Conroy all finished in the top 20.
Moe Abuasab led the way in the open race with a time of 20:01.

On Saturday, 9/2, the team opened up the invitational racing season at Lyons Township. In the JV race, Kyle Donahue led the way with a three mile time of 18:38. That time was a 1:12 improvement from last year.
In the varsity race, Jared Tarantino turned in a 14th place with with a personal best of 15:41.
Luca Giaveri led the way in the freshman race. He ran 13:35 for 2.2 miles.
Finally, in the sophomore race, Aidan O'Leary ran 17:13, which earned him a 15th place finish.
All of the following ran personal bests for 3 miles: John Doherty, Christian Gambotz, Colin Hobart, Moe Abuasab, Eddie Oh, Armando Ramirez, and Omar Taha.

Last night, the boys and girls teams participated in our annual Run-A-Thon on the Stagg track. The teams run laps for an hour in connection with our fundraiser. 20% of the money we raise is donated to the American Cancer Society through our District 230 Relay for Life. As always, it was a great night.

Stagg Boys Cross Country 2017

Yesterday afternoon, the team opened the 2017 racing season at Dellwood Park in Lockport, running in the SWSC Preseason meet. The course was brutally tough - easily the toughest course the boys will run on all year. The Chargers looked great in their debut. Aidan O'Leary led the way for the frosh/soph team, finishing the 5K course in a time of 19:28. Christian Gambotz, Peter Gordan, Kaleb Donnahue, and Luca Giaveri also scored for the team, helping them finish 9th overall.
In the varsity race, Jared Tarantino turned in a top-ten finish with a time of 17:43. Justin Hobart, Kyle Madura, Grant Wright, and John Doherty all looked strong, rounding out the scoring. The varsity finished 5th overall.
The team will next race at their first invitational of the year on Saturday, September 2nd, at Lyons Township H.S.
