What an amazing evening!
On Friday, September 11th, we welcomed our new and returning students to Plutarchos Academy Greek School! It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces at the Blessing of the Backpacks.
We shared a delicious meal together and the children created a special craft in honor of the Elevation of the Holy Cross by planting basil.
A heartfelt thank you to our PTA for hosting this special event and making everything possible!
Moments like these strengthen our community and bring our students and families closer.
We’re so excited for a wonderful school year ahead!

🍩✨ Loukoumades Sale! ✨🍩
Join us this Sunday, September 13, 2026 for a delicious treat in honor of the Sunday of the Holy Cross!

The St. Spyridon Philoptochos will be selling warm, golden loukoumades right after Divine Liturgy.

All proceeds support Philoptochos charitable ministries. Come grab a dozen (or two!) of these sweet, honey-drizzled favorites and help support a wonderful cause.

Plutarchos Academy of St. Spyridon is excited to welcome adult learners for another wonderful year of Greek language, and culture!

✨ NEW THIS YEAR — ONLINE-ONLY INSTRUCTION!
For students who are unable to attend classes in person, we are now offering a fully online Greek language program, making it easier to learn and stay connected from wherever you are.

📚 Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Levels
💻 Online-Only Option Available
🏫 Hybrid In-Person & Online Option
📅 Classes run September through May

Whether you are learning Greek for the first time, strengthening your existing skills, or reconnecting with your heritage, we would love to have you join us.

🎉 Proud moment for our Ploutarhos Academy community!
Our school proudly participated in this year’s annual Greek Town Beautification Project in Chicago! Students and teachers joined the festive ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the beautiful new murals and street enhancements.
This year’s theme was especially meaningful — honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States of America 🇺🇸✨
We are thrilled to have contributed with a stunning painting created by our talented students under the dedicated guidance of their teachers.
A big heartfelt thank you to the Greek Town Education Foundation for making this inspiring project possible and for continuing to celebrate and uplift our Greek-American heritage!

🎉 Camp Kalokairaki Day 5 – The Sweetest Grand Finale! 🍪

What an incredible final day and an unforgettable week at Camp Kalokairaki! ❤️
Today the kids dove into Greek tradition by learning how to make melomakarona – one of the most beloved Greek cookies! They discovered the beautiful story behind them, rolled up their sleeves to make them from scratch, and of course… enjoyed every delicious bite! 😋

We wrapped up the week with lots of laughter, fun games, and a special Happy Birthday sing-along for our two wonderful teachers! The kids cherished their time together, already talking about coming back next year for more cooking adventures and memories.

Every camper went home with:

• A beautiful certificate of completion

• A full recipe booklet with all the dishes we made during the week

• Information about our Greek School programs starting in September!

Thank you to all the amazing families who joined us this week. Watching the kids learn, create, and fall in love with Greek culture has been such a joy!
We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in September for Greek School. Until then… keep cooking and stay connected! 🇬🇷

Camp Kalokairaki Day 3!!! 🌿🍅🔥
What an incredible day!
Today’s menu was a Greek classic: Briami! 🍆🥔🫑
We dove deep into the world of harvesting, traditional food preservation, and how our ancestors chose and enjoyed their food long before supermarkets and online orders. Then it was time for action! The kids sliced fresh vegetables, marinated everything with love, and filled the air with the amazing aromas of herbs and spices.
The result? The most delicious, fragrant briami that disappeared so fast… some pans actually came home completely empty! 😂👏
These kids are not just cooking, they’re connecting with real food and real traditions!
Can’t wait for Day 4… it’s going to be even more exciting! ✨

Camp Kalokairaki Day 2!!!!🌞
What a beautiful day filled with love, laughter, and the best kind of comfort food!
On today’s menu: classic Greek meatballs with French fries. That unmistakable smell that instantly takes you back to childhood memories in every Greek household. We talked about all the warm feelings this simple, beloved meal brings, and it was pure joy!
The rest of the day was packed with fun crafts 🎨, games, and lots of giggles. The highlight? Celebrating the 6th birthday of two incredible twins! 🎉
Grateful for every moment. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings! ❤️

🇬🇷🧿We're so proud of our current and former students that participated in the 2026 Metropolis of Chicago Jr. Olympics. Our combined St. Spyridon/Holy Cross soccer team prevailed in Extra Time and won the GOLD! 🥇Bravo!! ⚽️ Also congratulations to:
