The foundation is the primary fundraiser for Lucile Packard Children's Hospital; it also works to improve the system of care of children with special health care needs, and it disseminates information to raise awareness and promote action regarding key children's health issues. Fundraising

he pediatric programs at Stanford University School of Medicine are able to provide the finest, family-centered care to children; train the next generation of pediatric medical leaders; and conduct research into treatments and cures for diseases that affect children throughout the world. Growth in community support over the last decade has helped transform Packard Children's into one of the nation's top children's hospitals, and has sustained its commitment to care for any child in the community, including those without health insurance. The foundation’s www.kidsdata.org website provides information about the health and well-being of children. Kidsdata provides facts about children ages 0–18 in the state of California. Data encompass all aspects of children's health, from asthma and alcohol consumption to weight and reading proficiency levels.

We're so grateful to the Wyman family and Duets Across America for their generous gift supporting research into BPAN (beta-propeller protein-associated neurodegeneration), a rare neurological condition that affects Duet, the youngest Wyman.💙 During a recent visit, the family toured the lab of Dr. Juliet Knowles, whose work is helping advance treatment for this complex condition. Of the $50,000 raised, $25,000 came directly through Duets Across America, with an additional $25,000 contributed by Million Dollar Bike Ride matching donors.

Duet's family founded Duets Across America to raise awareness and funds for BPAN research, and their support of NBIA Disorders Association is fueling a collaboration with Stanford School of Medicine to move Dr. Knowles' research forward. Thank you for making a difference for kids and families affected by BPAN.

🎉 Join us for the Annual Ambassadors Kickoff Meeting on September 23 at the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park.

Ambassadors LPCH is an impact-driven donor program that channels the vision, talent, and passion of its members to support kids, families, and expectant mothers at Stanford Medicine Children's Health. Each year, the group rallies around a special project, or fund-a-need, to meet critical needs at the hospital.

This kickoff is your chance to learn more, meet fellow community members, and see how you can get involved this year, whether that’s volunteering, hearing from Stanford physician-scientists, or helping raise funds for programs that change kids’ lives. This meeting will also host a blanket drive for our friends at the Teen Van, and an opportunity to help assemble care kits for expectant mothers in the Antepartum Unit at Packard Children’s.

A huge thank you to Lake Anthony Music and Guitar Center Music Foundation for donating instruments to our Music Therapy Program at Stanford Medicine Children's Health! These new instruments will help our incredible music therapists support patients through some of their toughest days, easing pain and anxiety, and offering comfort.

Yesterday we celebrated the birthday of Lucile Salter Packard, the visionary whose generosity made Stanford Medicine Children's Health | Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford a reality.

Long before she became one of the hospital’s founding philanthropists, Lu was a Stanford student volunteering with children recovering from illness—an experience that shaped the vision she would eventually bring to life. She believed every child deserved extraordinary care delivered with compassion, dignity, and hope.

That vision extended beyond medicine. She insisted the hospital include healing gardens and open spaces, and championed a then-revolutionary model that brought care for mothers, babies, and children together under one roof.

More than three decades after the hospital opened, her vision continues to inspire our mission: unlocking philanthropy that transforms health for all kids and moms.

Happy birthday, Lu—and thank you for starting it all. ❤️

👋 Meet physician scientist, Dr. Avenesh (Ave) Thakor, Director of Pediatric Interventional Radiology at Stanford Medicine Children's Health.

🩺 Interventional Radiology uses advanced imaging as a GPS system to guide minimally invasive surgical tools through the body’s own vessels and pathways, reaching any organ with extraordinary precision.

🩻 Through incisions sometimes no wider than a grain of rice, Dr. Thakor and his team can unblock vessels, deliver therapies directly to tumors, and stop life-threatening bleeding.

❤️ He and his team are bringing new hope to kids with some of the toughest diagnoses.

Most AI in medicine has been built for adults. Stanford Medicine and Stanford Medicine Children's Health are creating it just for kids.

That's the mission behind the new Hub for Artificial Intelligence in Pediatric Medicine, bringing together doctors, researchers, and engineers to build AI tools specifically for kids. Some of what's already happening:

🩻 MRI scans that used to take an hour now take minutes, thanks to AI-enhanced imaging. Less time in the machine means less need for anesthesia.

👶 A new tool can predict which premature babies are at highest risk for complications, with 85% accuracy.

🤰 A simple urine test can catch signs of preeclampsia as early as 10-12 weeks into pregnancy, early enough for preventive care.

📊 A new smart dashboard doubled the number of type 1 diabetes patients in a study who successfully managed their blood sugar.
