What’s in a name? More than you might think.

Join us at Pacific Art League for When Advertising and Art Collide: The Art and Science of Naming with marketing strategist Lisa Bertelsen Kivett.

[NEW DATE] Friday, September 18, 2026
6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Why do some names stick in our minds while others disappear? Lisa explores how branding, behavioral science, and language shape the way we perceive everything from products to works of art.

Then, the conversation moves from the marketplace to the artist’s studio. Drawing from interviews with nine artists, Lisa looks at how artwork titles emerge from memory, music, politics, symbolism, intuition, and sometimes the desire to make a sale.

A fascinating evening for artists, designers, marketers, and anyone curious about the power of words.

Free for PAL Members | $20 Non Members

That’s a wrap on PAL’s Summer Camp Art Academy!

After eight weeks of painting, drawing, sculpting, sewing, designing, and experimenting, we’re closing out an incredible summer filled with creativity.
More than anything, we loved watching our campers build new skills, grow in confidence, make friends, and proudly share their work at our Friday student showcases.

A huge thank you to our talented instructors, teen volunteers, staff, families, and all of the young artists who filled PAL’s studios with curiosity, kindness, and creativity this summer.

What a summer. We can’t wait to do it again next year.

Pacific Art League invites you to participate in our Postcard Exhibition, a joyful celebration of big creativity in a tiny format.
Create an original work measuring exactly 4 × 6 inches and show us how much imagination, personality, and impact can fit into a postcard-sized space.

Drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, photography, mixed media—and everything in between—are welcome.

To keep the exhibition fun, accessible, and priced to sell, all artwork must be available for purchase between $50 and $250.

Learn more and submit through the link in our bio.

Submission deadline is September 3.
