Decreasing separation anxiety and increasing parent-child bonding

Edinburgh, Scotland, June 2012

Chelsea Heather has developed a collection of products to counteract the negative effects of the increasing two-parent working trend on the emotional development of young children.

The products, named ComiConnectors, ease the experience of separation anxiety by promoting remote bonding between parent and child. The products comprise an instructional storybook and four plush character toys. The plush toys provide children with pre-recorded sensory experiences prepared by their parents and played back by the child at times in the day when the parent and child are physically apart from each other. Through shared ownership of the products, bonding between parent and child is fostered.

The toys are based on the daily routine of preschool children and are programmable and customizable by parents. Drop-off at nursery, reading time, lunch time and nap time are the key points during the day for the child to interact with the products.

An instructional storybook containing imaginative illustrations and engaging text accompany the four plush characters, providing parents and children with a more multi-dimensional experience to share.

ComiConnectors provides convenience and flexibility for working parents to respond to their preschool child's emotional needs through remote bonding. This collection of products is intended to be used in the daily routine and environment of an educational or care institution. It is a supplement for parent-child bond enhancement and is designed to be used according to the traditional periods that parents and children are separated due to work. The products are not designed to replace the actual time parents and children spend together.
