Guiding your child to make their own discoveries

19/06/2026

Our very special, small, child-centered school has one opening for the next academic year for a child ages 5–10.
At Sequoia Montessori, children are known, supported, and inspired. We do advanced math, hold rich book clubs where children read classics and have deep conversations about what they read, create plays, study world history, and work on meaningful projects.
Children learn independently and in small groups. They feel safe, challenged, and excited to grow.
I love our school. It is a truly special place we have created.

Found myself in a gold miner’s cabin near Coloma, where James Marshall discovered gold in California in 1848 and sparked the California Gold Rush. I also picked up several beautiful books for our school to support the children’s research on the Gold Rush era. Filled with wonderful illustrations and photographs, these books are perfect for elementary-aged children and help spark curiosity about history and the lives of the people who shaped California.

We start with strong relationships with our children. Then Montessori starts to work.

Our preschool class is opening in September!

A small class for 10 children, ages 2.5 to 6, in a sunny classroom with a large outdoor environment — a beautiful setting for authentic Montessori education.

Here, your child will be gently guided toward independence, responsibility, and a true excitement for learning.

A very small Montessori preschool is opening in Palo Alto.

Only 10 children will be in the classroom with two adults, allowing each child to be truly seen, supported, and known.

The lead guide is AMI-trained, with rigorous, authentic Montessori training and a deep understanding of child development.

Our classroom is calm, filled with light and peace — a place where your child can be who they are, grow at their own pace, and make their own discoveries.

Join us for our Open House on June 6th, from 2:00–6:00 pm. We would love to welcome you, show you the classroom, and share more about our program.

My helper is setting up a bike for our preschool! Because we have a large outdoor space, it is so fun to bike among the trees!
