EDUCATING OF: Parents/ Students/Instructors
1. Instructors should educate parents and students on tournament rules. (That is the main purpose of Black Belts meetings prior to the start of tournaments)
2. Copies of rules will be on hand at sign-in tables
4. Center ring judges will announce all rules to the competitors in their ring, including time periods, before events begin. (Important for Kid's ring)
FIGHTING:
Contact Rules will be strictly enforced!! I . NO contact to the front of the face.
2. NO contact to the back or kidneys. (Sides are acceptable)
2. Positively NO contact to the head in Under-Black Belt divisions!!
3. Contact is accepted to the areas of the head that are covered by head gear, with exception to the back of the head, (ONLY) in Adult Black Belt Divisions!!
4. Light to medium contact will be allowed to the body. (Disqualification may occur if this contact is deemed excessive.)
5. NO contact is allowed below the waist.
6. NO sweeping of the legs is allowed.
7. Disqualification will occur if there is BLOOD or REDNESS as a result of contact!!!
8. It is up to the Center judge to enforce required Protective Gear is worn.
9. Second warning is the Disqualification!
10. If there is any contact to the head, the mouthpiece MUST be removed, and mouth visually inspected for injury. I 1. If post leg is out of the ring, the competitor shall be considered out. I 2. Intentional runouts will not be tolerated.
1st time - warning,
2nd time - point is awarded to other competitor 3rd time - disqualified
13. Black belt fighting - will perform 2-minute continuous total points.
14. Scorekeepers SHOULD NOT mark points unless directed by Center judge. I 5. Center Judges should not allow corner judges to call for points if they did not physically see the contact. (Center judge can overrule but should be done tactfully)

** THE CENTER JUDGE MUST DIRECT FELLOW JUDGES TO RANGE OF SCORING
1. We must try to separate ourselves from favoring Students or Style of Martial Arts.
2. We should look for content and merit.
3. We should realize that there is not only one way to do Forms. Every teacher has their own method, style and direction of doing Forms.
4. We must lead by example and judge the way we want to be judged.
5. All comer Judges MUST move around their perspective comers. FIGHTING
**ALL JUDGES MUST BE IN KARATE UNIFORM WHILE JUDGING
1. Our focus must be on the fighting going on in our assigned rings.
2. We need to instill safety and fairness
3. We need to rely on Tournament Arbitrators for assistance in case of any confusion or defining of rules and regulations.
4. We need to realize that Rules, Regulations and Guidelines can only work if everyone strictly adheres to them.
5. Black Belt Meetings at the beginning of events are for the purpose of distributing important information of that event and is to be taken back to your students and Parents prior to competition.
6. Center judges must refrain from critiquing other competitor's forms (this may disrespect the competitor's instructors).
7. We must judge all forms openly and not strictly with certain style standards.
8. Any Black Belt who does not attend the Black Belt Meeting may not be positioned as a center Referee. GENERAL RULES FOR ALL EVENTS
1. ALL rules should be identical!
2. There should not be more than one Black belt in a ring from the same school.
3. There should be no more than One Jr. Black belt in a ring at a time
4. If there is a shortage of Black belts, let the arbitrator make the decision on selecting the judges. (ex. See rule 2 & 3)
5. If there are 12 people in a ring, it will be up to the Center judge to be the ambassador. (explain rules to everyone)
6. As the judge, you must bring the ENERGY!
7. It is at the Promoter's discretion to allow FREE admission to Black belts who assist and they MUST stay through Grand championships.
8. The Center judge must infonn ALL timekeepers, Scorekeepers, etc to inform spectators to see the Center judge who in turn goes to the Arbitrator, in the event of a discrepancy.
9 All fighters will be bowed in at beginning of the event, rather than individually at each event in the essence of time.
10. All attempts will be made to try and accommodate 18 ft rings.
11. Anyone caught spitting, performing derogatory gestures, making racial remarks, discriminating against another or making physical contact against another outside the ring WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED and asked to leave the premises.
