One of the ✋5 Essential Elements of Gracie Self Defense Jiu Jitsu.

Why?? Absolutely imperative, essential skills for realistic, real world self defense.

Somewhere along the way, the tidal wave of "jiu-jitsu" we see all over the world became something else. Still amazing, and beautiful, but a highly specialized sport by world class athletes. No striking. No hair pulls or weapons. Sport grappling on the ground. And in many grappling rulesets, highly trained athletes can simply sit on the mat, scoot around in a seated position, and specialize to avoid throws or takedowns. 💺🛴
