THE PROFESSOR HAS A REMINDER FOR YOU…

❌ “Just add gas.”
❌ “Airflow doesn’t matter.”

Two phrases that can turn a simple service call into an expensive lesson.
Low pressures don’t automatically mean low refrigerant. Before reaching for the jug, you need to understand what the entire system is telling you.

✅ Check airflow.
✅ Measure static pressure.
✅ Verify superheat and subcooling.
✅ Look at the whole picture.

Because good diagnostics aren’t about finding a number you don’t like and immediately trying to change it. They’re about measuring, verifying, and understanding WHY that number is there.

That’s what Professor Pickel has been preaching since the beginning:
MEASURE. VERIFY. TEACH.

Because guessing is expensive.

And that’s exactly the mindset we build at Anthony’s Cool School. We’re not teaching students to memorize shortcuts. We’re teaching them how to think like technicians.

🧰 Next class starts September 21st.

.Approach isn’t how confidently you walk up to the condenser. 😂

In HVAC, approach temperature is the difference between two temperatures we compare to help us understand how well heat is being transferred.

On a typical residential system, you may hear condenser approach used when comparing the outdoor air temperature to the liquid line temperature.

The important part?

👉 It’s another piece of evidence.

One number rarely diagnoses a system by itself. Approach, subcooling, superheat, airflow, pressures, temperature, they all help tell the story.

Good technicians don’t hunt for a magic number.

They collect evidence. They understand what it means. Then they make the call.

That’s the difference between “checking a system” and diagnosing one.

Sensible Heat — What is it?

Sensible heat is the heat that changes temperature and shows up right on your thermometer.
If a room drops from 78°F to 72°F, that’s sensible cooling. The temperature changed. Simple as that.

Why does this even matter:
Your A/C has two jobs: cool the air AND remove humidity. Because 72°F can still feel pretty miserable when the air is sticky. 😅

🔧 Tech Tip: Comfort isn’t just a number on the thermostat. Temperature + humidity work together.

What do you see everyday that relies on sensible heat?

Recessions come and go. AC problems don't. 🔥

The economy can slow down all it wants, Florida's still going to hit 95° with 90% humidity, and somebody's still going to need to fix that AC unit. That's the thing about this trade: it's about as recession-proof as a career gets.

The sun doesn't take days off, and neither do the techs who keep this state running. Real hands-on training, real-world skills, a career that's always in demand. that's what we build at Anthony's Cool School.

🚨 SOMEWHERE RIGHT NOW… A TOOL IS BEING LEFT BEHIND. 😭🔧

You packed the gauges.
Grabbed the meter.
Closed up the unit.
Loaded the van.

And then you hear it…

“Come back… come back…” 💔😂

Every technician learns this lesson eventually: before you leave the job, do the tool check. A 30-second walk-around can save you a return trip, and keep a perfectly good drill from starting a new life with the homeowner.

🔧 Tools out. Tools counted. Tools home.

👇 Alright techs, what tool have YOU accidentally left behind on a job?

Bonus points if you had to make the drive of shame to go get it. 😂

Most people think HVAC is just fixing broken AC units. It's actually so much more than that.

Our July to August class just wrapped up at Anthony's Cool School, and these students walked away with skills most people never get the chance to learn hands-on.

They worked directly on real equipment, not just textbooks. They learned how a refrigeration cycle actually works, how to safely handle refrigerant, and the electrical basics every technician needs before they ever step into someone's home. They also prepped for their EPA 608 exam, all earning their Universal Certification, one of the first real milestones in their careers.

Florida runs on air conditioning. That means the people who know how to install it, repair it, and keep it running will always be needed.

This is what a career built on real skill looks like: not a desk, not a degree, just knowledge you can use anywhere.
