Wasilla High School contemplates the power of a symbol by Olivia Vincent WASILLA HIGH They might not have planned on it, but in the first week of school Wasilla High was asked to regard their freedoms as Americans, and morals as people, when a group of boys came on school campus flying Confederate flags on their trucks. When students arrived back at school on August 14th, it did not go unnoticed that out in the parking lot were three vehicles with the red white and blue flags of the Confederacy flying off their beds. The girls team were the Region 3 Champions this year, with seven girls qualifying for the state meet. The boys finished with two qualifiers. A.L.I.C.E. is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate which is the new way schools across MSBSD are preparing themselves for an active shooter emergency.
