Path2Empathy Empowering students to embrace, live, and practice empathy So Why Empathy? Is it a fad? However, if they lack empathy, will they be effective global citizens?

Our society cultivates self-centeredness and consumerism into the fabric of our young people. Because of this, we now find a generation of students lacking resiliency skills, embracing a victim mindset, airing entitlement, bullying to get power, yet selling out to the lowest bidder for self-esteem. We can agree that on the world’s stage, academic success is key for America’s youth in all areas of

innovation. An education in empathy shows students that seeing the world through another's eyes is essential to personal growth. To practice and experience walking in another’s shoes demonstrates the importance of shedding a victim mindset and leaving behind entitlement in order to help others. When empowered to find empathy opportunities both globally and locally, students will build self-worth by contributing to a cause greater than themselves. This is why empathy. Students are our future, and they will be as empathetic as we teach them to be.
