Before the first school bell rings, take five minutes to talk to your children about inclusion and empathy. Remind them to sit with someone who looks lonely, never make fun of others for being different, and speak up or get an adult if they see bullying happen.
Key Reminders for Your Kids-
Include others: Invite the quiet kid or the one sitting alone to join your group or sit at your table.Respect differences: Never tease anyone for their clothes, looks, lunch, or how they talk.Be an ally: Do not laugh at mean jokes. Stand with the person being targeted or tell a teacher right away
Words matter: Remind them that a hurtful comment stays with a person long after the school day ends.
