I’m so honored to be a board member of Palm Springs Women in Film and Television and super excited to share PSWIFT’s primary fundraising event for our scholarship program this year – a luncheon happening March 26, 2024, at the Classic Club!
The event is titled, “The Power of Local News,” and will include a panel of Coachella Valley journalism experts who will provide insights on the important role local news plays for those of us who live and work in the Coachella Valley.
This is going to be a fun event so I really hope to see you there! 🫶🙏

Janice Lopez City of Palm Springs Parks & Recreation wins City Employee of the Year and Stacey Brashear-Rodriguez wins Location Manager of the year for “High Desert”.
It was an exciting night, and I couldn’t be more proud of my colleagues! Because of you, 2024 will be the best year ever ❤️❤️❤️ Congratulations!

PSWIFT is thrilled to welcome Laurilie Jackson as our newest board member!
Laurilie is an accomplished individual with a strong media production and education background. Laurilie is the Associate Professor of Media Production at College of the Desert, Guest Lecturer at the College of Arts and Letters at Cal State San Bernardino, and News Anchor at KESQ News Channel 3. Laurilie oversees a nationally recognized college radio station, an award-winning online newspaper, and a thriving film department. Some highlights of her career include internships at KNBC Los Angeles, CNN Hollywood, Larry King Live, and Entertainment Tonight.
She believes a solid education, practical experience, and building connections are well-founded and aligns with the principles that can significantly contribute to student success and career advancement. Laurilie has received several awards and recognitions throughout her career, including the 2019 Helene Galen Excellence in Education award through the Women Leaders Forum, the 20 Year Teaching and Service award at College of the Desert, and was a top three finalist for the 2020 Best Faculty Advisor in the country award with the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems in NYC.
