Heading to PRC 2027 in Orange County? Don't just conference and fly out.
OC has a rich backstory β by the 1930s it was producing a sixth of the nation's Valencia orange crop. Hence, Orange County.
A few things worth building your itinerary around:
π Tanaka Farms (Irvine) opens for strawberry season mid-March β pick berries, wagon rides, even goat yoga. 10 minutes from the Hyatt.
πΏ The Ecology Center (San Juan Capistrano) β a 28-acre regenerative farm hosting multi-course dinners under the stars. The kind of place that restores your faith in the world.
π The Wedge (Newport Beach) β a jetty built by the USACE in the 1930s creates 30-foot waves breaking yards from shore. Free, wild, and guaranteed dinner conversation.
π₯ Din Tai Fung just opened at Irvine Spectrum (March 2026). Book ahead. Also nearby: CUCINA enoteca, Kalbi Social Club, and Javier's β all worth your time.
π₯Ύ Laguna Coast Wilderness Park & Crystal Cove β March wildflowers + ridge-line Pacific views = peak hiking conditions.
And if you want to eat like a local? Drive north to Garden Grove or Buena Park for Vietnamese and Korean food that rivals anywhere in the country.
Start planning (your budget, cough cough) early β more logistics coming as we get closer to 2027. π΄

Meet Matt Whiteβ PRC's Treasurer and a driving force behind making SMPS better for everyone.
Matt came to the PRC role with a wealth of experience, having previously served as Treasurer for his local chapter. With a hybrid technical background, he brings a rare combination of financial savvy and people skills to the position β and he wouldn't have it any other way. "It lets me use my hybrid technical background to help make SMPS better," he shares.
A natural problem solver and communicator, Matt has built a career on lifting others up. He's especially proud of working his way up to Regional Director for his team β a role that gave him the opportunity to mentor junior colleagues and help them reach their full potential. That same spirit of generosity carries over into his volunteer work.
When asked about his favorite PRC memory, Matt lights up talking about the connections forged across chapters. "My favorite PRC memory is always hearing all of the takeaways that my friends in the Seattle Chapter got and talking with them about their favorite moments. Just the friendships!" It's a testament to what he believes volunteering is truly about: meaningful relationships.
For anyone on the fence about getting involved, Matt's advice is simple β jump off that fence. "Volunteering is the best way to make meaningful connections, friendships, and truly enjoy your time with SMPS."
Outside of SMPS, Matt is focused on a personal goal close to his heart this year: prioritizing his physical and mental health to invest in his future self.
We're grateful to have Matt's talent, energy, and heart on the PRC team!

Meet Jeremy, PRC 2027's Sponsorship Co-Chair! β¨ For Jeremy, volunteering has always been about connection: building new friendships across the region and watching those new acquaintances grow into old friends over time. His greatest strength? Getting genuinely excited about new ideas and bringing others along with him. It's a quality that makes him not just a great volunteer, but an energizing presence for everyone around him.
Professionally, he's spent nearly two decades with the same company, witnessing the lasting impact that passionate marketers can have on their teams and culture, and he brings that same long-view mindset to his work with PRC. Outside of volunteering, he's navigating a big year: sending his oldest off to college π , teaching his younger two how to play musical instruments πͺ , and carving out time to read and sharpen his math skills. If you're on the fence about volunteering, Jeremy's advice is simple: "Volunteering for PRC will return back to you all that you put in β and more."
