Today is Juneteenth—a day we reflect on freedom, resilience, perseverance, and hope.

Juneteenth challenges us to reflect on how far we have come while also asking how we can continue building a more inclusive and equitable future. At College of the Desert, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams, regardless of their background, circumstance, or starting point.

Please join us in celebrating the strength and contributions of Black Americans whose leadership, innovation, scholarship, artistry, and service have helped shape our nation.

The College of the Desert campuses will be closed on Thursday, June 18, in observance of the Juneteenth.

Our campuses will resume operations on Monday, June 22.

Last week, College of the Desert recognized faculty and staff at the Years of Service, Emeriti and Tenure Ceremony and honored our retirees at the annual retirement luncheon.

These milestones represent years of dedication, leadership and service to our students and college community. Their contributions continue to make a lasting difference both inside and outside the classroom.
