I have been featured in Mommag this quarter. Itโs way in the back but the article sums up what we do at Desert Hope Dyslexia Services. I didnโt write the article. The publishers at Mommag wrote it. Itโs an amazing article. Such sweet words were mentioned. Iโm truly blessed. I love everything about my job. It has been an honor to serve families here in the Coachella Valley and other parts of the country and world. I give all the glory to God. He took something that was a struggle for me and turned it into hope for others. ๐

Another step in the right direction. This certificate is simple but it holds opportunities for families across our local communities. It will bring answers to families who have wondered why their child is struggling in reading and spelling. And bring hope to the children who know the struggle is real.
Pass the word around.

Meet my sweet friend Maycee! She came to me two years ago and started the Barton Reading & Spelling System. Maycee wasnโt too far behind in school but she found reading and spelling difficult and it often resulted in meltdowns and tears of frustration. Her mom didn't know what else to do to help Maycee. I got her started and 2 years later, ๏ฟผI'm extremely proud to announce that Maycee has completed all 10 Levels in the Barton Reading & Spelling System!! She now has reading and spelling tools to help her succeed. And the best part is, sheโs above grade level in her reading!
Way to go Maycee! Congratulations on a beautiful job well done! I'm so proud of you! Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. Love you so much! ๐ Miss you already

This is Nathan!
He just completed 10 Levels of the Barton Reading & Spelling System! I have had the pleasure of tutoring him for the past 2 1/2 years. He is now a senior in high school. When I started with Nathan, he was at a low reading and spelling level. He now has all the tools he needs to be able to read and spell the most difficult words. Dyslexia will always be part of who Nathan is but it will no longer hold him back. He now has the whole world at his fingertips waiting for him to take hold of his dreams and make them a reality. Nathan's hard work, dedication, and perseverance has been amazing to see. Even though I will miss seeing him every week, I'm incredibly excited that he doesn't have to worry about tutoring anymore!! So happy!! ๐
Nathan,
always keep your head up. Never quit. Always work hard at what you are given to do. Thank you for being such a great student. God bless ๐

This may not seem that big of a deal for most small business owners because most may have started here. But for me it's kinda a big deal because I'm no longer doing business as a Sloe Proprietor. With the location and extra tutors I felt it was time to take the next step. Growth can be scary and exciting at the same time. ๐ฑ

This is so true. I have lived this as a child and it was hard. Good news is, there is help! Email or call me.
Without the right support . . .
Without the right support at school and at home, dyslexia can create anxiety, stress, depression, or anger.

Parents must fight to get what their child needs.
That fight can be exhausting, but our kids are worth it.

Susan Barton the developer of the Barton Reading & Spelling System recommends that students don't take the summer off from tutoring. I agree. Desert Hope Dyslexia Services is open throughout the summer. All of our students will be continuing twice a week sessions. I do believe a break is important but it is also important to keep the momentum going so students don't forget what they have been taught so far and to keep their minds growing while there is less activity.

Meet my friend and student, Tyler Rogers. He is finishing his Junior year in high school at Desert Christian Academy this week. He is dyslexic. Up until January 2020, he had struggled in reading and spelling. Today, he finished a major chapter on his life journey. He completed the 10 Levels of the Barton Reading & Spelling System! It took him 2 years and 6 months to complete the entire program. He now has a treasure of tools that will help him overcome his dyslexia. He has pushed through the most difficult lessons and has remembered all of the spelling rules.
This is a huge accomplishment for the both of us! He is my first student that I have taken through the entire program. We both now have invaluable knowledge about reading and spelling to help us both get through hard long words that dyslexia has kept us from learning before. I know Tyler would agree that we give all the glory to God. He is good all the time!
Way to go Tyler! You persevered and accomplished the hard stuff. I'm so incredibly proud of you! ๐๐
Thank you Lisa and Tony for investing in Tyler. I know it's been a sacrifice financially. However, when you think about what this will do for Tyler's future, it's priceless! โบ๏ธ๐
This picture was taken at an academic college in Minnesota called Macalaster College, where Tyler has been sought out to play football in the fall of 2023. Please pray for Tyler as he will be stepping into a new season and making some pretty big decisions about his future plans. ๐๐
