The 2026 AAUW Atlantic Regional Conference brings together national leaders, journalists, attorneys, clinicians, researchers, public health experts, educators, and advocates working across voting rights, workplace equity, women’s health, media, food insecurity, STEM, law, and global policy. The real value is not simply hearing them speak. It is connecting ideas across issues, asking better questions, and finding practical approaches you can use in your branch, workplace, classroom, and community.

Collecting data is essential to analyzing performance.

For nearly 60 years, workforce demographic data has helped the identify patterns of workplace discrimination, enforce federal civil rights laws, and advance equal opportunity.

Now, the EEOC has proposed eliminating this critical data collection. Without employer-level workforce data, it becomes much harder to identify barriers to pay equity, investigate discrimination, and understand where workplace inequities persist.

AAUW urges the EEOC to withdraw this proposal and preserve workforce demographic data collection.

Public comments are open through August 24. Speak out to help protect equal opportunity in the workplace.

Celebrate the Voting Rights Act by exercising your right to VOTE. Early voting for the Primary begins August 8. Primary Election Day is August 18.

Today marks the 61st anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, signed into law on August 6, 1965.

President Lyndon B. Johnson introduced the Voting Rights Act to Congress in March 1965, the same month that voter registration protests intensified in Selma, Alabama. The violence there added pressure on Congress to act, and the bill was signed into law on August 6, 1965.

The legislation outlawed literacy tests, poll taxes in federal elections, and other obstacles to voting.

The passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act led to dramatic increases in Black voter registration and the election of more African Americans to state and local office.
