The 2022 Summer Pilot and Session 1 (Fall) Reading programs have successfully delivered instruction that directly impacted gains in reading levels, vocabulary acquisition, and comprehension. The average student increased in early literacy skills by 1.0 (1st grader beginning of the school year) to 2.6 (2nd grader after the 6th month of the school year) Grade Equivalent. Students exited the program 1 to 2 grade equivalent level(s) above their present grade level. Our continued goal is to offer our instruction outside of school hours to augment students’ schooling to help them achieve reading at or above grade level by Grade 3.

Reading to Be Ready is presently providing reading intervention instruction to Kindergarten and Grade 1 students. Our action plan continues to include one-to-one and group instruction with a focus driven by data. We will continue to implement ongoing progress monitoring with measurable goals, including baseline assessments. The assessments will provide quantitative and qualitative data to support effective instruction and intervention to foster students’ reading level progress toward closing the reading gap.

We are a nonprofit organization singularly focused on providing reading evaluation, reading intervention, and reading instruction to socio-economically disadvantaged children from K to Grade 2 to close the reading gap by Grade 3.
