May we seek justice and peace
where it is within our ability,
and rely on you when the ability escapes us.
On this day of solemn remembrance:
May we build what has been torn down.
May we mend what has been broken.
May live your love when hate
seems to reign.
May we bear witness to the cause of peace.

September 11 — We Remember

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, a day forever etched in the hearts of our nation. Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, their families and loved ones, and all whose lives were forever changed by the events of that day.

We also remember with gratitude the first responders, firefighters, police officers, emergency personnel, members of our military, clergy, and ordinary citizens who responded with extraordinary courage and selflessness in the midst of tragedy.

As Catholics, we turn to Christ in prayer. We pray for the souls of all who died, for those who continue to carry the wounds of that day, and for all who work for peace in our world. May we never forget the unity, compassion, and willingness to serve one another that emerged during those difficult days.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

We remember. We pray. We will never forget.

Amen!

Today, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who courageously answered the call, and all those forever impacted by September 11, including our own school community. We remember two of our very own from the Class of 1986, Neilie and Kit, whose lives were tragically lost 25 years ago.

In their honor, our SJP4USA Club is hosting a Tower Walk Challenge. Students will be doing 4-8 laps around campus. All shirt donations from today will go to support the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

Twenty-five years later, the memories of September 11 remain etched in our hearts. We remember those who lost their lives, the families who continue to grieve, and the brave men and women who answered the call to serve others.

May God grant eternal rest to the departed, comfort to the sorrowing, and wisdom to all who work for peace. Let us never forget the lessons of unity, faith, and love that emerged in the midst of tragedy.

𝐀 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡

Earlier today, before their encounter with Pope Leo XIV, Bishop Manuel de Jesús Rodríguez joined his brother bishops for Holy Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, near the Chair of St. Peter (Cathedra Petri).

The Mass was presided over by Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, O.F.M. Conv., Vicar General of His Holiness for Vatican City and Archpriest of St. Peter’s Basilica.

Following the celebration of Mass, the bishops made their way to the tomb of St. Peter beneath the main altar, praying at the resting place of the Apostle upon whom Christ built His Church.

“Tu es Petrus, et super hanc petram aedificabo Ecclesiam meam.”
“You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.” (Matthew 16:18)

From this sacred place, Bishop Manuel joins his brother bishops in praying for the Church and for the people entrusted to their pastoral care, as they continue their formation and service to the People of God. 🙏🏼
