🤿 VOLUNTEER DIVERS NEEDED! 🤿 ::: We are already IN!

Calling all divers! The 2026 Women Divers Hall of Fame Diving Medicine Research Grant recipient is recruiting volunteers for a groundbreaking study looking at the impact of recreational diving gases on scuba divers' neurocognitive performance.

If interested in participating as a volunteer diver for the 2026 Women Divers Hall of Fame Laurel Clark Sea to Space Extreme Environmental Physiology Research Project, please fill out the following application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdVBuwtMa1S2p4_k8VHqC7O59rYKrPadDqsMPlgLG3y_GYyYA/viewform. We are recruiting 100 divers!

If selected as a volunteer, you will be contacted by the study's principal investigator. The research project would involve you making 1 dive with the study's research team to 80 feet at Hudson Grotto/Scuba West between September 20 and 24, 2026. You will be assigned to dive with Air, EANx28, EANx32, or EANx36 and need to be at minimum an Advanced Open Water and Nitrox Diver. While at depth you will fill out a diving slate containing a neurocognitive questionnaire. You can find more information on the flyer posted below. Please feel free to share!

Last month at The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce’s luncheon we learned about the environment, challenges for cleaner water, and the daily efforts to improve the habitats.

It was inspiring and fun to listen to the ideas and thoughts of Keith Winsten, Executive Director at Brevard Zoo, and Dr. Duane De Freese, Executive Director at One Lagoon , and it helped us get a better idea of what Kung Fu Divers can do to help.

is not only about restoring and rebuilding habitats, it is also about learning to all together.

Always a fun experience with Midwest Mermaids Scuba! We dove together at 86° early morning at the end of July.

🌴NEW VIDEO IS LIVE!

We're heading underwater at one of Florida's most famous shore dives—Blue Heron Bridge at Phil Foster Park in Riviera Beach!

And this is one of those dives where deeper definitely doesn't mean better.

BHB is relatively shallow, easy to access from shore, and absolutely PACKED with things to find. 🐙🐠🦀🐡 The trick is slowing down and actually looking. Some of the coolest creatures at Blue Heron Bridge aren't very big—and they're really good at hiding!

There's also one VERY important thing you need to understand before planning this dive:

⏰ HIGH TIDE.

This is not a "show up at 2:00 because 2:00 works for us" kind of dive. 😂 Your dive needs to be planned around the tides, and you'll want to arrive early enough to park, gear up, and be ready when it's time to get in.

::: How to enjoy a without spooking it 🐢 :::

GOOD BUOYANCY!

Good ensures that you avoid any accidental damage to the fragile marine environment and it makes animals comfortable to approach and stay around for longer (like this tired Loggerhead resting near a sponge).

🐢Be patient when adjusting your buoyancy - Release or add air from your BCD in small increments and make sure to give it time to take effect.

🐢Relaxed, deep breathing is a vital element - Breathe slowly to ensure full exchange of oxygen within your lungs and for increased relaxation during your dive.

🐢Keep a record of the weights used for each - This will provide a guideline that can be useful in adjusting when at a new dive location.

And remember that holding your breath underwater is not only dangerous, it also results in extra buoyancy!

As we get more experience and practice diving, we begin to look at the details, the smaller creatures in the and their behaviors.

This can be super fulfilling because it is a reflection of one’s maturity and growth!

It can also trigger curiosity in learning more. And the more we learn, the more we love, and the more we love, the more we take action!

Remember is not only conservation, but also learning to with others
