Millage allows Brevard Public Schools to provide teacher salaries that remain competitive with surrounding counties and reflects our commitment to investing in fair, competitive teacher pay.

This is not a new tax. The millage is a renewal of an existing local funding source that helps support teacher salaries and school operations throughout Brevard County.

Surtax funding supports a range of physical security improvements across Brevard Public Schools. This is not a new tax. The Sales Surtax is a renewal of the existing half-cent sales tax that helps fund safe, maintained, and modern school facilities.

These investments include secure single-point entry, upgraded locks and gates, reinforced front office safety features, expanded security camera coverage, and modern emergency alert systems.
Every visitor entering a school is directed through the front office for check-in, helping schools monitor access and maintain secure learning environments.

These upgrades create safer entrances, give schools greater visibility across the property, and make it possible to respond quickly in an emergency.

Surtax helps ensure schools have the safety infrastructure needed to help protect students and staff.

Ms.Bell's 5th grade class experienced their first trip to STARBASE. Students learned to differentiate between physical and chemical changes. They spent time calculating the perimeter of various shapes to determine the distance around a mars basecamp.And, they explored and created 3D printing designs. Ms.Ewer's 5th grade class had an amazing time at STARBASE today! Students were meaningfully engaged with technology as they completed 3D engineering challenges. They designed personalized name tags, used problem-solving skills to identify missing components on a spaceship, and applied their creativity and engineering thinking to design spaceships of their own. Our young scientists also explored atoms and molecules by building models and using interactive simulations. They participated in hands-on investigations involving physical and chemical changes, making observations and identifying evidence of chemical reactions. Throughout the experience, students used science, technology, engineering, and math skills while collaborating, problem-solving, designing, and investigating. Earlier this week we shared about the Sales Surtax.

The second measure on November's ballot is the 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 — a property tax renewal that funds the teachers, programs, and technology that make learning happen every day in Brevard County classrooms.

Millage is the small portion of property taxes that stays right here in Brevard County, locally approved by voters to directly support Brevard Public Schools. Every dollar collected goes to the people and programs inside our schools.

Millage funds three things: 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲, 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲.
