An update from HEF:
This week Rep. Zika filed HB 187 relating to dual enrollment.
The Dept of Education presented their proposed budget to the House Education Appropriations Committee which included $16 million to cover the cost of dual enrollment for private and home education students.
We are also working on getting a Senate sponsor for a dual enrollment bill.
I can't tell you how huge it would be to get this bill passed! PRAY!

NCAA Moment:
Is the NCAA focused only on sports?
No. The association’s belief in student-athletes as students first is a foundational principle. As such, college-bound and continuing student-athletes must meet academic standards to participate in NCAA sports. NCAA student-athletes as a group annually outperform counterparts in the general student body in graduation rates. The NCAA funds many programs that directly support the educational, financial, and health and safety needs of student-athletes.

New signed legislation!
House Bill 7055: Extracurricular Activities
We were able to strike the wording which required home education students to have to register prior to the beginning date of the season in which the student wishes to participate. This gives home educated students more opportunities to join a team if they miss a specific date set by the FHSAA.
