Gardening Club is BACK, y'all!
Last week we made 50 cups with Borage seeds saved from last season for starting this season's pollinator magnet garden, and some of them are ALREADY SPROUTING! We also dug a big hole and planted one of our Plumerias.
This week threatened (and served) a downpour, but Uncle Greg finished getting the popup cover up while we talked about what we were planting this week inside. Cupped up golden bush beans, sugarsnax carrots, and sweet basil in the drizzle, and then the sun was out so we started digging our first furrow!

Whoohoo we've been busy!
Sewing projects rarely get "done" in a single day, lol!
I've been sending the working kiddo pics to their parents, but check out some of the drawing with thread we've been doing!
Kids can make their own drawing or look for internet pictures they can transfer to the fabric. Then they get "colored in" with whatever stitches the kids "invent", but the backstitch and running stitch are definite favorites.
Private or group sessions also available to those who would like to learn to sew on a machine and make fabulous plushies. (There are a few simpler sweet plushie patterns that can certainly be accomplished within a 2 hour time frame.)

Last pic is the item I'm currently working on when the stars align in class and everyone is happily stitching at the same time, lol!

Fantastic "first day" with new and old friends!
Soft kitty pincushions/mini pillows in Handsewing Club,
and strides in Sculpture as we got introduced to the magic that happens when you have a BIG clump of hot clay and some cool tools.

The kids are warming up to Auntie Rose's favorite clay!
They really smashed it out of the park today with their enthusiasm for the mineral oil, reusable clay. It gets just as goopy and soft as regular kiln clay when you leave it out in the Florida sun, hardens back into carve-able consistency in the air conditioning quickly, but never dries out so any "mistake" can always be overcome.

The kids in the morning class got really excited about taking nice pictures of their work on the backdrop, too! Afternoon students preferred to switch to relaxing watercolor painting after they'd tuckered themselves out working with the clay.

Our last week of "Around the World" summer camps, inspired by France and sweet treats!

Some of the younger students weren't as impressed with Impressionism, but they still had a blast painting and being creative! Here's some of the paintings that were finished after we learned about Claude Monet. Others are still works in progress.

Today's Draw&Paint demo!
There's some brushwork issues on this one, but sometimes you gotta make "mistakes" on purpose so they can see why you're trying to teach them another technique is better, especially when "sneaking" in backgrounds when working in watercolor.

This one started as an 11x17 live sketch of a doll that I photographed and uploaded to the computer so it could be projected and traced much SMALLER than it's original size easily. The painting is about 5.5 x 8.5.

This one was really soft!

First day of "camping" in GREECE.
The kids enjoyed Columns and Clothing!
Had to get lectures out of the way so we could understand all the FUN we're having! We're working on columns made from Auntie Rose's stash of awesome cylinders and air-dry clay, and leather Gladiator Sandals. First day is always the toughest, but excellent beginnings and wonderful progress has been made!
We had a welcome break in the blessed drizzle Florida has be needing, and practiced tossing a football around during lunch.
