Our Instructional Department has been busy! 📚✨

From supporting instructional coaches through Coach Cadre, strengthening math instruction with NEFEC Connect Math 3–5, and diving into science learning through Rural Connect Science 6–8, our team has been out in our districts providing meaningful professional learning and support.

We’re proud to partner with educators across NEFEC to strengthen instruction, share ideas, and keep learning together!

Our NEFEC School Counselor Forum was a day full of learning, connection, and meaningful conversation!

Counselors from across our region engaged in a poverty simulation, stepping into realistic family situations to better understand the challenges and barriers that can impact students and families. They also explored the impact of early experiences through the Brain Architecture Game and received important updates from the Florida Department of Education.

At NEFEC, we know learning doesn’t stop when the workday ends, but is something we carry into our homes and share with our families.

This month, we’re celebrating some of the youngest members of the NEFEC family as they cozy up with their favorite books! From silly stories to new adventures, reading opens the door to imagination, curiosity, and lifelong learning.

NEFEC recently brought together our region’s McKinney-Vento Liaisons for a meeting focused on collaboration, resources, and supporting students and families experiencing homelessness.

Thank you to the incredible liaisons who show up every day to advocate, connect, and help ensure students have what they need to succeed. You’re the real superheroes! 💥❤️

Recently, participants from the Summer Connect Academy came back together for their first Rural Connect Session, and it was a blast! Participants stacked benchmarks, deeply analyzed text sets and released practice tests, and practiced backward planning for High-Quality Tier 1 Instruction. It was inspiring to hear stories and see student artifacts from lessons teachers have already implemented since school started. It’s going to be a great year of ongoing professional learning!

Our Program Development & Training Specialists, Laura and Lakeshia, recently had the opportunity to spend the day with some of our region’s newest educators at NEFEC’s New Teacher Network. From exploring instructional strategies and pedagogy to sharing best practices, these new teachers are building the tools and confidence to make a difference in their classrooms. 🍎✨

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring the rich history, culture, and contributions of Florida’s Hispanic communities!

The Florida Department of Education’s 2026 Art & Essay Contests also offer students a chance to celebrate that heritage, and six essay winners will receive a 2-Year College Plan Scholarship from Florida Prepaid.
