NEFEC McKinney-Vento Program partnered with Dixie District Schools to kick off the school year with a powerful experience, The Poverty Simulation. Administrators, teachers, and staff stepped into the shoes of individuals and families experiencing poverty to build greater understanding, strengthen empathy, and explore how our systems and supports impact students and families.

A new school year is the perfect time to reset, reconnect, and refocus on the experience we create for students, families, and one another. ✨

As part of their back-to-school kickoff, Suwannee County Schools did just that. Staff at Suwannee Riverside Elementary and Suwannee Pineview Elementary came together to reflect on the impact of their interactions, strengthen communication and relationships, and explore ways to create a welcoming, positive school culture from day one!

📚✨ Preplanning is all about preparing for student success!

This week, FDLRS NEFEC had the opportunity to provide professional learning for educators in Flagler County. Staff members collaborated to strengthen their understanding of the process for providing documented accommodations to students with disabilities, ensuring Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are implemented with fidelity and students receive the support they need to thrive.

NEFEC was proud to host a Strategic Communications Summit where we welcomed superintendents, district leaders, and communications professionals from across our region for a day of collaboration, learning, and innovative thinking. A special thank you to Chad Oliver for facilitating engaging discussions and sharing valuable strategies to help strengthen communication in our school districts.

Rural Connect Florida: One State. Many Classrooms. Shared Success. 🤝

Nearly 80 teachers, coaches, and administrators joined us at PK Yonge for four days of professional learning focused on accelerating student achievement, increasing educator efficacy, and building a sustainable model for regional literacy support. Educators engaged in high-impact literacy practices, including placemats, carousels, significant sentences, and sorts, while collaborating and building strategies to strengthen literacy instruction in their schools.

We are excited to continue this important work with our rural partners!

Day #1 of the 2026 NEFEC Summer Leadership Conference was a success!
