Hey there fellow book lovers...I was in for a bit yesterday to price newly acquired tomes, and got to thinking about 'sticker shock'. Now, I hope all of you know we're pretty cheap, and even try to sell new books lower than they go for on Amazon, (even though that's where I buy a lot of them and it's a secret how I can buy a book from THEM, and then sell it to YOU cheaper), but we do have some books that you may look at, see the price, and get heart palpitations. Here's why, lol....prices like that are for special editions, collectible editions, signed or numbered editions, rare editions, and so on. I, personally, will let you know in person why the price is what it is and what they actually sell for, but I can't see every book every person picks up and think's we're mad for asking the stickered price. Best I can suggest is to Google the edition and that will show and tell. As an example, there will be a 3 book paperback romantasy set going on shelves soon that I have priced at $45 for the trilogy. These go for an easy $100-$150, but we didn't pay anything near that, so we don't price like that. No need for greed, right? Also, for some of our more popular genres, we just might have the book you're looking at for a little bit cheaper. How? Why? We keep multiple copies of some on hand, and being I pay differently for each, they get priced differently. There also may be a first edition on the shelf, and I have a cheaper, later edition, or even one that's in not as good condition, so please ask if we might have a differently priced one and maybe you can save a buck or two/three. We're here to get affordable books into your hands, not make a fortune off of each customer. We also maybe have the book you want for cheaper in a different format...like you have a hardback in your hand for, as an example, $8, we may have it in paper back for quite a bit cheaper. Our normal pricings on books we buy to resell is say I pay $5.39 pre-tax for a book....I add the change, and a buck, and sell it for $7. HAVE to make a little profit to keep the bills paid and be able to buy more books, but, again, we don't try to make that happen on each individual customer. Sell more for less, and actually make more, right? I wish venues with those $18 beers would understand that! lol. Anyways, basically, if you have a 'why?' about a book price or whatever, PLEASE ask or just do a quick online search....you'll find we're super fair on our pricing scale. Open again for the week starting tomorrow, so hope to see you!
