Paisley's own Mia Milasinovic won the heptathlon today at the Southern Conference track and field championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Samford University sophomore got off to an uncharacteristically slow start and trailed the leader by more than 330 points after two events. From there on she put on a show, winning 4 of the last 5 events and setting three championships meet records (shot put, javelin & 800 meters) enroute to the victory.
Mia's point total of 4,871 points also broke the national record of her home country, Montenegro, eclipsing the old record of 4,848 points set by Milena Milasevic in 2006. She now holds 3 Montenegrin national track and field records.
We couldn't be prouder of Mia for all the hard work and dedication it's taken to become a champion.
