Escape the Rock
Again Mason and Connor battled for the lead and Connor lead them up the hill into the Rock.
This is the most demanding course that we run all season. Huge elevation changes and pumi dirt to bedrock to gravel.
This is one race that is not about the time it about finishing up front.
Connor lead the majority of the race and ended up in 2nd place with a 15:01.
Mason ran a 18:27 for 6th place

La Pine Invitational started off great. Mason and Connor battled for the lead, and Mason held Connor off as they came off the grass.
The boys ran a great race. Mason kept the leaders in site and battled at the finish line passing a few runners. He finished with a new PR 13:39 for 20th place.
Connor also ran a great race with some fast paced kids.
He finished with only 1 shoe, the other came off with 300m to go.
He kept running and finished 4th with an 11:44 and a new school record.
Cameron had a great day also. He had a great start and paced well with some fast kids.
He finished 16th with 11:52.
Next up escape the Rock on Saturday

Cameron Jones ran the Oxford classic on Saturday in Bend at Drake park.
He had a great start and ran very strong, pacing with some fast runners. Was a nice venue running along the river in downtown Bend
He ended the race with a 22:51.0
Cameron will be running next week at the LaPine Invitational on Wednesday the 9th and Escape the Rock at Fork Rock on Saturday the 12th.
Our Middle School runners will also be running at both of those events.

Districts were this last Friday, May 13th.
The weather was great for half the day, then the rains came down.
The girls finished 6th as a team and they qualified for the state meet in 4x400 relay.
Nele Brottka led the girls off in the triple jump with a jump of 32'1" for 2nd And a spot in the state meet. She also ran a hard fought battle in the 800m with a lifetime best of 2:51.32. She also Ran a fast second leg in the 4x400 relay.

Karin Sztranyovsky started off in the high jump with a jump of 4'2" for 5th place. She ran the 400m with her lifetime best of 1:08.62 to finish 3rd. She also ran a lifetime best in the 200m with a 29.90, she also ran a great anchor leg of the 4x400m relay.

Anna Bayard started off in the shot put 20'2" for 15th place, then to the discus 64' 4" for 12th. She also threw the javelin 57' 6" for 29th.
Anna ran a blistering fast 3rd leg in the 4x400m relay.

Brianna Haynes started off discus with her lifetime best of 58'4" for 21st.
Javelin 58'5" and a great 1st leg of the 4x400m relay.

Saika Sultanova started with the discus with a throw of 76'7" for 4th place.
Javelin 57'8", and is also an alternate for the 4x400m.

Cody Dickenson started off his last high school meet off in shot put with a 32'2.5" for 15th place. Then to the discus with a throw of 56'4" for 19th place.

Evan Newton started his last high school meet off in the shot put with a 32'11.5" for 13th place. Then to the discus with a throw of 69'4" for 19th place.

Victor Mena started off with the 100m dash with his lifetime best of 12.32 for 8th place. Then his 200m lifetime best of 25.11 for 6th place.
Victor injured his ankle during the 2nd meet of the season and it never healed correctly. At that time he was #1 in the state 1A in long jump 19'9.5"pr

Marcelo Lima started off in the Long jump 14'6" for 22nd place.
Then the 400m with a lifetime best of 1:01.22 for 8th place.

Bartek Nowak started with the shot 28'7.5" for 23rd, discus 62'10" for 22nd place. Then javelin with lifetime best of 58'10" for 36th place.

Deion Chan started with long jump 16'2.5" for 11th. Then the 100m dash 13.17 for 23rd and last the 200m with 27.45 for 20th.

The girls team will be competing at the state meet at Hayward field at the UofO
In eugene this next week.

Paisley's own Mia Milasinovic won the heptathlon today at the Southern Conference track and field championships in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Samford University sophomore got off to an uncharacteristically slow start and trailed the leader by more than 330 points after two events. From there on she put on a show, winning 4 of the last 5 events and setting three championships meet records (shot put, javelin & 800 meters) enroute to the victory.

Mia's point total of 4,871 points also broke the national record of her home country, Montenegro, eclipsing the old record of 4,848 points set by Milena Milasevic in 2006. She now holds 3 Montenegrin national track and field records.

We couldn't be prouder of Mia for all the hard work and dedication it's taken to become a champion.

In her professional debut, Paisley 400-meter school record holder, #2 Kylee O'Connor lines up to kick the game winning field goal in the Oregon Raven's 9-6 double overtime win over the Seattle Majestics yesterday.

In addition to her duties as a place kicker, Kylee plays running back and free safety for the Ravens of the Women's National Football Conference.

Way to go, Kylee!!!

Today, our thoughts, hopes and prayers are with a member of the Paisley track and field family. Ukrainian high jumper Anton Magursky (middle of third row) was a valued member of the 2000 Broncos track and field team.

Anton is now a software engineer living in Kyiv, Ukraine. In typical fashion, the last post on his Facebook account was an attempt to help others find safe passage from the city in the face of the advance of the Russian Army. We've not heard from Anton in more than a week since.

Please join us in saying a prayer for Anton and his fellow Ukrainian countrymen as they face these dangerous and terrifying times.

Congratulations to Paisley HS and Samford University track star Mia Milasinovic on a hard-fought runner-up finish in the pentathlon at the Southern Conference track and field championships today in Lexington, Virginia.

Mia had four lifetime best performances out of the five events and came up just short of winning the championship with a score of 3,626 points to the winning score of 3,673 points by Wofford University's Netanya Linares. Miss Linares had to run a personal best by more than 10 seconds in the final event, the 800 meters, to narrowly capture the overall win over Mia.

Mia's performance set a new National Record for her home country of Montenegro (pending ratification by the national governing body for Athletics). Her total far surpassed the previous Montenegrin national record of 3,308 points set by Danijela Pesic in 2017.

Mia will compete tomorrow in the individual high jump where she is also one of the favorites.

Mia Milasinovic, Samford University. Mia competes in the multi-event disciplines. She placed third in the Southern Conference indoor pentathlon and fourth in the heptathlon last year and is among the favorites in the multi-events and high jump this year.

Abigail Sanders, Western Oregon University. Abby will compete for the wolves in her specialty, the javelin throw, and will add the hammer throw this season. She was also a standout on the WOU rugby team last fall.

When I first saw this picture of one of Paisley's greatest athletes, Tess O'Leary (14 x's State Medalist, 4 x's State Champ) and I at the 2012 State Championships, I wondered why someone took it. However, today it seemed somehow fitting for this post.

Looking back on a coaching career that began as a volunteer assistant at North Douglas High in 1983, I was fortunate enough to watch the incredible 1983 & 1984 Paisley girls win State Championships in my first years as a coach.

All I knew about Paisley then, was that it was a small school somewhere East of the mountains that produced extraordinary track athletes. I could never have imagined that I would one day be given the honor of coaching the next generation of extraordinary Paisley kids.

I've had the pleasure of working with far more exceptional athletes and even more exceptional young people than any coach could hope for at such a small school (14 kids in the high school this year). I've never considered myself more than just a mediocre coach. I never followed the latest trends in training and technique. My focus has always been on cultivating a belief that with enough hard work and dedication - ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! The combination of incredible kids who embraced that belief in themselves has been our recipe for success over the years.

As I pass the baton to the next Paisley coaches, I'm looking forward to watching an exciting new chapter in Paisley track and field. Thank you to all who have supported the program over the years and a special thanks to all the kids who proudly wore the Paisley colors and represented our wonderful community with class, honor and dignity.
