Potato harvest has officially begun for the ESAREC entomology program in 2026. Between trials with industry partners, the Virginia Potato Board, and graduate student projects, we’ve got our hands full for the next two weeks!

Entomology graduate students and summer interns are testing corn earworm moths for pyrethroid resistance. This adult vial test method is an easy way to assess this resistance using moths we catch from our traps at the research station.

Throwback Thursday: Northampton County's Agricultural Roots
For over 400 years, Northampton County residents have lived and thrived on the bounty of nature. Agriculture and working waterfronts continue to be a staple of the Northampton County economy. Even today, the majority of the County’s land area consists of productive crop and forest land. Protecting the integrity of these working landscapes is vital to the long-term viability of family farms and the agriculture industry as a whole.
