Hi Friends... I spoke with Mary ( Jamie mom) this evening. The biggest concern are the 2 boys Kasey and Christian. Jamie was such a great mom. Now that she's gone her mom informed me Casey will be taking over with the boys. I thought maybe a gift card donation site would be easiest to manage to help him with the boys? Any thoughts? Would anyone be willing to participate?

Hi all. I am not sure how many of us are still active on this page/facebook. I am sure most of you have heard about the unfortunate passing of Jamie Diemert. Each time a Harvey classmate/teacher/etc has passed, I have sent a card and some sort of gift under our name. When Dr. Terrell passed I sent school supplies to the Science Dept at Harvey. When Mike Barclay passed, his family put in his obituary to donate books in his honor to libraries. Under our Class of 97 name, I purchased $500 in childrens books and wrote "In honor of Michael Barclay Class of 1997" inside each cover. I donated them to the Painesville City Red Raider Preschool. It does not look like Jamie's family has made a request in her honor. I do not feel like that means we should not as a group acknowledge her. Does anyone have a suggestion? She was a teacher in Youngstown. Should we pass school supplies off to her mother Mary or brother Casey? Maybe put a nice card and picture of from the reunion in it expressing our condolences? I would be very willing to financially contribute...but I am hoping another class member steps into the role of the shop/handoff/etc. Thoughts?

"AS THE OPPORTUNITY SO THE RESPONSIBILITY" - "1922 Cornerstone" - "EDUCATION IS THE SAFEGUARD OF DEMOCRACY"

We all remember these sayings above the center and west doors of the former Thomas W. Harvey High School. These historic pieces of limestone have inspired generations of Harvey grads throughout the years. Both pieces and the 1922 cornerstone were saved during the demolition of Harvey ā€œClassicā€. The Harvey Alumni Association Endowment Fund paid for both stones to be repaired and restored. All three stones were put into storage until plans could be completed to display them at the new Thomas W. Harvey High School.

The Painesville City Board of Education recently approved a plan proposed by the Harvey Alumni Association to place these new stones at the "Gateway" to the new Thomas W. Harvey High School. The site is the right front corner of the building near the entrance where students enter the building and where spectators enter the building for music, athletic, and drama events, etc. The stones would all be enclosed with bricks matching those in the building. The architect's plans are for the stones to be built into a brick wall next to the sidewalk with the cornerstone in between them.

A contractor has been secured with a bid of $13,500.00 for completion of the project. We are hoping that Harvey Alumni will want to be a part of this historic project and contribute financially towards our goal. Those alumni contributing with a check of at least $100.00 will become a part of the stones' history by having their names engraved on a plaque permanently placed on the back side of the brick wall.

Next Harvey Alumni meeting is November 21st at Hellreigel's Inn.
