Honorable Congressperson:
Fair, neutral, unsuppressed access to preventive, non-medical, alternative, and complimentary health information on the internet is in peril, primarily because of a new censorship practice by Google. This is a grave matter that affects the lives of US citizens and the welfare of our nation. To fix this problem, we the undersigned are calling on Congress to act accordingly:
1. Require internet service providers, broadband network companies, and tech companies that operate websites such as search engines to operate under public transparency regulations. In 2018 FCC Chairman Ajit Pai stated the following with regard to big internet tech companies: “...we need to seriously think about whether the time has come for these companies to abide by new transparency obligations.”
2. Break up search engine tech giant Google, as proposed by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren. Google is operating as a monopoly with 88% of the market share of searches, engagement in anti-competitive practices, and suppression of fair access to preventive, non-medical, alternative, and complimentary health websites following their entering into a mega-million dollar deal with a Big Pharma conglomerate last summer that entailed Google devaluing and delisting numerous well-established, beneficial, non-medical health websites from organic searches, including mine: www.colitisandcrohnscenter.com.

Google’s censorship of health information has resulted in these profound effects:
1. Suppressing health-seekers’ ability to find alternative, non-medical, and complimentary solutions to their health problems,
2. Drastically decreasing the incomes of numerous holistic health professionals,
3. Strengthening the monopolistic statuses of the medical and pharmaceutical industries,
4. Increasing profits for the health insurance industry,
5. Diminishing the welfare and funds of many health-seeking American people,
6. Undermining the integrity of our free democracy.
Last year, Americans spent approximately $3.6 trillion on medical healthcare. Despite or hand-in-hand with this gigantic expenditure, the USA was ranked 36th among the world’s healthiest nations according to Bloomberg Global Health Index. It’s common knowledge that our “healthcare” system is actually an inefficient and largely misguided “disease treatment” system that is in dire need of major reform. At least 40% of Americans engage in “complimentary and alternative” health therapies and practices. They know, and all Americans need to know, that healing and health are the result of healthful living practices, and that holistic health professionals serve an invaluable purpose in our society.
In my case, a change to a plant-based diet, as taught by a natural health doctor, saved my life from severe ulcerative colitis 36 years ago, following an eight-year unsuccessful run of Western medicine with seven gastroenterologists. I have since changed my career from environmental engineering to health counseling and helped over 5,000 health seekers overcome “medically incurable” diseases, including five medical doctors – the vast majority of those people found me on the internet via organic searches.
Modern medicine has its place – but it must not dominate our people’s choices.
The USA must not fall into the trap of becoming a censorship regime – Congress must not allow Big Tech monopolies that influence society in biased ways that undermine the welfare of our people.
Furthermore, Congress must not be swayed by Big Tech, Big Medicine and Big Pharma lobbyists, nor be carried away by conventional medical authority and campaigns to denigrate and suppress the health industry.
The Preamble to the US Constitution reads:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Congress must insure our citizens’ right to net neutrality with open, un-censored access to health information. The general welfare of our people and the sustainability of our democracy are at stake. Please act wisely.
