🌘 What is your favorite topic to teach?

I ✨love✨ teaching moon phases. I think it’s because it’s hard to grasp. Only a very few astronauts have seen the earth and the moon in the sky at the same time.

So when the lightbulb moments start to happen because kids get it, I am so excited and proud!

🥹😭 Missing my teacher BFF today.

What’s crazy is we took this pic in October of 2019, and I already knew in this photo that I wasn’t going to teach at the same campus next year.

There’s something to be said for loving your job, even when it sucks, because you work with great people. My first middle school job will ALWAYS and forever be my favorite. But life changes, and that’s okay.

I miss you, 😭

👇🏼Tag your teacher BFF, even if you don’t work together!

✨ I know some of you still haven’t welcomed students yet. This may have been taken in 2020 when we started the year online, but posting a slide like this in your classroom for students to see when they walk in is always a good idea!

Including pronunciation was always especially important for me because… well, how do you pronounce a name with four As in it?!

A welcome slide like this will help students know they’re in the right place ☺️ It’s also great for parent nights!

Use remove.bg to remove the background from a photo… or just use a photo that shows who you are!

📊 The freaking struggle. We all expect middle school students to come in with some decent graphing skills… but the second we assign a graph, we realize they don’t have any.

Don’t let your students struggle with graphing for one more day! Grab an awesome (no-prep) graphing resource here!

Give all of your students common language when it comes to knowing what graphs need, so that it’s easy for you (and other students) to help improve graphing skills!

And make sure students know when to make a bar vs a line graph!

Starting the year with a good foundation and reinforcing good graphing skills will only make your students better at graphing when you ask them to make one in January!

Grab this resource below! It includes:

✨ PPT using the mnemonic TAILS to reinforce what all graphs need
✨ PPT teaching when to use a bar graph and when to use a line graph
✨Guided (and accommodated) notes
✨Practice graphs
✨Answer keys to everything!

The school year is still a little ways off… no need to panic just yet! Tell me in the comments what you’re still planning to enjoy about this summer 👇🏼☀️

How much time do you spend putting students in groups? Too much?! I used to too, but grouping cards are my FAVORITE classroom tool! Go check out the link below to see how they work!

❤️ Each student gets a card with a color, number, and letter.

🧡 If you say color, all the colors group together.

💛 If you say number, all the numbers find each other

Get the idea? It’s the EASIEST and FASTEST way to group students for labs, stations, or group work!

I have a secret 🫣

I like the first day of school. Navigating through all the unsolicited advice from well meaning teachers pushed me to create my own, balanced system of engagement and expectations on the first day of school. This is my personal twist on all of that advice. Take it, leave it, or think on it!

🧪Science teacher, do you need a better plan for the first day of school so that you can rest easy knowing it’s all set?! DM me the word “FIRST” and I’ll send you more info on my *totally free* and simple first day of school plan!

I’m going to bet you’re NOT ready to go back to school. Tell me in the comments what your least favorite part of the first week of school is 👇🏼

My least favorite part used to be everyone telling me to focus on procedures and relationships the first couple of weeks. I didn’t know how to balance that with content - much less what content I should start my year off with!

I’m working on something I wish I would have had a few years ago… a bunch of lesson plans that helped me ease into content the first two weeks of school!

I’m not quite done, but it’s coming soon!

🍍Not one of the sorry people today! VIP passes, robes, and piña coladas at the Hot Springs is where it’s at.

I lived in Arizona a long time, but I’ve fallen in love with my tiny Colorado town 😍 Fully enjoying some free time and amazing weather!

🫠 The end of the year is magical and horrible all at the same time! Having a variety of last day activities in your toolbox is the only way to not dread your last day!

These are my top activities for the last day of school. No matter the craziness of the year you had or combination of students, you’ll definitely be able to use something from this list.

Tell me in the comments… when is your last day?! 👇🏼

05/16/2022

🛑 Don’t play with me today. Or this week. I’m done. The last week of school is not the time to try me. Maybe don’t even talk to me.

Would your admin:

😂 Laugh at this shirt

🥳 Totally approve

😬 Not be a fan, but won’t say anything

😡 Get angry

This is my favorite last day or week of school shirt. Sums up my whole attitude 😬
