Fire Mitigation Work Underway at ASD's Vista Property

Archuleta School District is completing fire mitigation work at its Vista property this week and next. Crews are clearing brush and low-hanging branches to help reduce wildfire risk on District property and in the surrounding area.

You may notice crews and activity in the area while this important work to help protect our schools, property, and community is underway.

Join us this Saturday, August 22, from 10 AM–3 PM at Pagosa Springs High School for a FREE day dedicated to helping local families get ready for the school year.

Come grab school supplies, connect with helpful family resources, and find the support you need to start the year off right. We’re excited to bring our community together and make sure Pagosa kids head back to school feeling prepared and supported.

🎭 What a show! Huge thanks to everyone who came out to support "The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition" this weekend!

👏 Congratulations to our incredible cast and crew, featuring 40 students in grades 5–9 and three high school interns! A special thank you to directors Katrina Thomas and Malinda Burnett, along with Heather Rose on sets, costumes, and stage management; Leo Baughman as Tech Director; and Anika Borders as Choreographer.

We’re so proud of all the students and staff who brought Bikini Bottom to life! 🎶

Archuleta School District’s Summer Junior Musical presents "The SpongeBob Musical "at the Pagosa Springs High School Auditorium on Thursday, August 13 at 7pm, Friday, August 14 at 11am and 7pm, and Saturday, August 15 at 2pm.

This high-energy, colorful production features 40 local students in grades 5–9, along with three high school interns, bringing SpongeBob and friends to life on stage. You don't want to miss it!

Tickets are $10 adult/ $5 student and can be purchased at the door or online at our.show/PSMS.

We've updated our Fall Sports start dates and practice times! Please take a moment to review the flyer for the latest information.

📢 Important Update: Football will now begin on Monday, August 10, 2026, one week later than originally scheduled.

Pagosa Springs High School is open as an evacuation shelter, and Pagosa Community Initiative is offering childcare for those affected by the Rio Blanco Fire.

If you or your family has been affected by the Rio Blanco Fire, please know that our community is here for you.

Current shelter information:

At PCI, we want to help however we can.

If your family has been evacuated and you need childcare, we will be accepting drop-in campers tomorrow for students who have completed Kindergarten through 8th grade.

To register your child(ren), please contact Courtney Weiters as soon as possible at 970-585-6896. Our staff will be at Pagosa Springs High School at 8:00 a.m. to welcome children into camp.

If you’re able, please send your child with:
• A swimsuit
• A water bottle
• A lunch

If you aren’t able to provide these items because of the evacuation, don’t worry, we will make sure your child is cared for. 💛

If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to complete your 2026–27 School Bus Contract to ensure your student is assigned to a bus route and bus stop before the first day of school.

📋 Remember:
• A new bus contract is required every school year.
• Please submit an updated contract anytime your student's information changes.

Completing your contract early helps us prepare routes and ensure a smooth start to the school year.
