Join us for the fourth and final 2026 Leadership Mastery Series workshop on Thursday, October 15, from 8:30–11:30 a.m. at the WKCTC Emerging Technology Center.

Ryan Hall, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence Lead at Owensboro Community and Technical College, will explore leading in the age of artificial intelligence.

Then Steve Christmas will bring us back to the human side with an interactive session focused on creativity, connection, culture, and leadership.

It is a great combination of two conversations every organization needs to be having right now.

Director, Ashley Burns, was honored to speak at yesterday’s Propeller Club meeting!

🌊 Workforce development was at the center of this month’s Propeller Club Port of Paducah, KY meeting, and we were glad to hear from Ashley Burns, Director of Community, Workforce, and Economic Development for West Kentucky Community & Technical College WKCTC about the college’s work supporting our region’s river industry.

One of the biggest takeaways was just how much common ground exists between West Kentucky Community & Technical College and the River Discovery Center.

🎓 WKCTC is preparing the next generation of workers while also serving as a resource for those already working in the industry, providing training and opportunities to build new skills throughout their careers.

⚓ At the River Discovery Center, we’re working at another important point in that same journey: introducing students to river careers, creating hands-on opportunities to understand the industry, and connecting young people with the companies and people who make our working rivers possible.

🤝 From that first moment of discovering a career on the river to developing the skills needed to grow within it, we share a commitment to strengthening our region’s river workforce.

Several of our board members and Executive Director Lindsey Launius enjoyed connecting with Ashley following her presentation and talking about how we can continue building on that shared mission.
