We are excited to share that PTHS Choir alumni, Gloree Nell Wood, will be giving a gratitude recital on Saturday, August 8, at 4pm at the PSO Symphony Hall. We are so proud of all that she has accomplished and excited for the journey ahead. Please come out and enjoy this free recital!

Congratulations to our friends at MCHS Theatre for their 7 wins at the KPA Bradley Awards!! The PSO Academy had several students involved in their award-winning production of Oklahoma! And special recognition goes to two Academy students, Jack Nelson and Emmett Rathgeber, for winning best actor and best supporting actor, respectively. Jack and Emmett take private voice lessons from Emily Black and Emily Wadley.

We are so proud of all of our students, and thankful you choose to study voice at the PSO Academy!

Yesterday, our PSO Youth and Children’s Chorus presented their spring showcase, and wow, what a performance they gave! Our Children’s Chorus performed songs in 4 languages, while the Youth Chorus engaged us with rhythmically challenging repertoire that they made sound easy.

We want to recognize our 10 graduating seniors, some of whom have been a part of the organization since they were in the children’s chorus:

Yesterday our Williams Family Symphony Hall was filled with the sounds of our first spring student showcase! It inadvertently ended up as Family Day, with 11 students from 4 families participating. We love to hear the variety of solo works as well as family ensembles! Our string instructors, Terry Hartman and Roger Graves, played alongside their students in a truly collaborative recital.

You have two more chances to hear our fantastic students- today, Sunday April 25, and Saturday May 9, both at 3pm.

Congratulations Liberty! She teaches saxophone and bassoon lessons, and our students are so fortunate to learn from her.

We are proud to announce that Morgan Elementary’s music teacher, Ms. Liberty Guyette, has been named the KMEA Elementary Music Teacher of the Year!

This honor is well deserved. In her first year of teaching, Ms. Liberty has done an incredible job engaging students and helping them fall in love with music. Her classes are active and meaningful, with students learning music theory, playing instruments, and singing.

She orchestrated a wonderful K–3 Christmas program and led students 4/5 students in W***y Wonka Kids in partnership with Market House Theater. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure all students can participate, even adapting instruments to meet their needs.

Ms. Liberty’s passion for music and dedication to her students shine through in everything she does. She has been an amazing addition to Morgan Elementary, and it’s no surprise that KMEA recognized her as Elementary Music Teacher of the Year.
