Symphony Supply Western Kentucky and the Purchase Area's only "String Only" shop. We specialize in the sales and rentals of fine stringed instruments and accessories.

Symphony Supply has been serving Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Northwest Tennessee, and Southeast Missouri since 1996 and is owned and operated by professional string musicians.

Hi All!

We are so excited here at Symphony Supply seeing so many new musicians renting instruments.

We have many new teachers around and I'm enthusiastic about the future of strings music in Paducah.

For a new musician, private lessons can be an absolute game changer when it comes to developing the skills necessary for high level music making.

At Symphony Supply, we offer Violin and Viola lessons for students of all ages and abilities.

Lessons are $25 per 30 minutes and $40 for one hour lessons.

We also offer a more advanced 1.5 lesson for students looking to get into All-State or Music School.

We here at Symphony Supply love String music so much. Seeing our students blossom into confident, skillful musicians is extremely gratifying. We hope to see you in our store for lessons and to expand your musical horizons.

Hi All!

What strings we decide to use as strings players can be a uniquely passionate decision we make.

There are personal decisions about what kinds of colors and tones you want to produce. There is also the consideration of how the strings will sound with your particular instrument and bow combination.

We would love to hear what kind of strings you use for your instrument!

Do you use different strings or do you use all of the same string?

What brands do you like to use? What types of sounds do you look for in your strings?

We'd love to hear your ideas and thoughts about how your strings are set up!

Hi Strings Music Lovers!

We here at Symphony Supply want to express our deepest gratitude for the love and support we receive from our Paducah community as well as the support we receive from our neighboring communities.

We physically see you at the store buying strings and renting instruments. We see you on Facebook looking at our page. Our customers tell us you are telling other people about us!

We feel a great warmth from your love and support.

For those that don't know, Bob Story passed away in August 2025. Losing Patty in 2021 and Bob in 2025 has dealt quite the devastating blow to our community and has affected operations at the store.

Patty and Bob had a wonderful vision and the means to carry out that vision. That vision will not pass because they are no longer on the physical plane with us.

Their vision for developing a loving nurturing string community lives. MCPS and Paducah Schools are both seeing rising numbers in their strings programs and their students are enthusiastically buying high quality goods from our store.

Our instruments are flying off the shelves and we are selling strings faster than we can keep them in stock.

The store is always full of beautiful music being played by the private students that take lessons here. Our students are bright enthusiastic musicians that have an amazing passion for creating sonic tales.

Symphony Supply will continue to carry out the vision of Patty and Bob Story. We will continue to provide the high level of string expertise that the community deserves.

Thank you so much for your continued support and love over the years.

Patty and Bob will never be forgotten. Their love for strings music will be passed down onto the newest musical minds and that is possible because of YOU.

Hello friends,

This is Ann Hardy. Perhaps we met while I ran Symphony Supply during the many months of the pandemic. I was actually filling in for Patty as she got treatment for her illness.

Per Patty's wishes, very few people knew of her illness, which left many surprised.

Although it has been weeks and weeks since this happened, I want to formally announce that:

Patty Story, the founder, owner and proprietor of Symphony Supply, and my best friend, has passed away.

Symphony Supply is not going anywhere! Patty's business and her quest for children to learn to play music lives on!

Today, Palmer Stroup is the man to speak to for all your string instrument needs. He follows the guidelines and values Patty used in her business.

Patty touched so many people through her musical career.... as a teacher, a stand partner, a business owner in her adopted city. Perhaps she touched you in some valuable way. Please feel free to share.

For me, I'll always admire Patty's beauty, her musical abilities, her honesty, her easy way with people, her sweet smile and her laughter.
