This morning, Village fifth graders celebrated Village-ton, their very own Revolutionary-era ball! After researching a key figure from the American Revolution and connecting their learning across Global Studies, Writing, and Information & Imagination (library), students came dressed as their historical heroes, enjoyed colonial-inspired treats, danced traditional dances, and tested one another's knowledge with a lively game of Two Truths and a Lie. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication!

Today we celebrated Grandparents and Special Friends Day, a cherished Village tradition where loved ones visit campus, tour the Art Show featuring work inspired by Artist of the Year Jean-Michel Basquiat, and spend time inside classrooms experiencing the joy of learning alongside our students.
We ❤️ our Grandparents & Special Friends!

Village School sixth graders had an unforgettable educational journey up the California coast this week.
Students explored Montana de Oro State Park, Point Lobos Nature Reserve, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Henry Cowell State Park, Alcatraz, the Exploratorium, and San Francisco’s Chinatown. We are proud of our students for embodying the Village Values while experiencing California history, nature, and culture firsthand. Next up ➡️ Graduation!

Last Saturday, Village School partnered with Councilwoman Traci Park for a community cleanup in the Palisades. This meaningful moment marks another step on our path back home, and we were moved to see over 110 friends, from near and far, join us. Special thank you to all who made this day possible, including our many generous sponsors. More events to come!

This week at Village School!
1-3: TKers are working on the vowel "a," and as part of the joy, created acorn figurines using glue, clay, and fun accessories.
4-5: After learning about the importance of Earth Day in the Science Lab, second graders marked the occasion with a class celebration!
6-8: Third graders are learning about physics on the putting green this week! Students designed mini golf courses to explore push-and-pull forces, tracking stroke counts to see how directionality and force shape every shot.
9-10: Fifth graders doing research for their capstone project this week. For the first part of the project, they are researching and writing about a key figure from the American Revolution; for the second part, they're BECOMING that person and attending the inaugural Village Revolutionary Ball! (Or, as some might call it, Village-ton).

Village School fifth graders have spent months in the DREAM Studio designing and building their original ancient civilizations for their Weslandia projects. This world-building experience asks students to create a society from the ground up, shaping everything from government and laws to geography, resources, language, and history.
Along the way, they design and paint detailed maps, learn to sew flags on the sewing machine, create their own currency, and develop artifacts that reflect the culture of their people. Many also design and 3D print objects that represent their mythology, tools, or daily life.
Today, students presented their completed projects to fellow students, parents, and teachers!

Paper Airplane Club has officially taken flight! A group of first graders brought the idea to Mr. Evans, and last Friday they held their very first meeting, right at the close of No Tech/Low Tech Week (and Dress Like a Teacher Day).
Village students leaned into joy and wonder with just a piece of colorful paper, testing, tweaking, and sending their ideas across the room.
