Since 1973, the Mott Training Center has served as the main center for training California State Parks employees. But times change.
The California State Parks System once operated on the premise that experience is the best teacher. Most skills in park management, operations, maintenance, interpretation, safety, and law enforcement were acquired on the job. Our new visitors have been checking us out through the office windows. A little later this season than last year, but spotted around the area the last couple of weeks.

Training for District Interpreters Group 21 returned, after a long break, to Marconi Conference Center SHP for annual training. The week opened with our California State Parks Director, Chief Deputy Director, and Assistant Deputy Director of Park Operations providing inspiration and direction. The group spent time engaging with NPS and Presidio Trust staff. Parks California and California State Parks Foundation provided information and resources. And the participants engaged in presentations from our own department staff.
