On March 15th, we took 15 students to the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) in Missoula to paint ceramic plates after spending the day before touring the University of Montana 🐻 and enjoying a play at the Missoula Children's Theater.

Here are the finished results of our creative morning! 🎨

It's scholarship submission season and Upward Bound staff would like to help you prepare your applications. Please talk to your Upward Bound instructor as they can provide you with a list of scholarships due in the next few months and walk you through the processes. In addition, An Upward Bound representative will be at the Polson High School library on Tuesdays from 1:30-3:30. All seniors are invited to participate.

Most of the high schools keep a running list of available scholarships. The one I am most familiar with is Polson High School's. It has a few specific to Polson, and man others noted. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vQRJyKaaGO4NJrIph05RN81d-JQBOmgeFAa8cGOcIiEVQpYn5Pt38z4qHEtNHGqh2pgCLdzKS9iCbPm/pubhtml

Upward Bound Summer 2023 Team Leader Positions

Upward Bound is hiring team leaders to assist high school students in a residential, college preparatory setting at Salish Kootenai College. Team leaders provide mentorship, leadership, and supervision during evening activities and extended educational and college visitation trips.

The program begins June 12 and runs through July 31. Team leaders work a 4:00 pm to 9:00 am shift while on campus at SKC, with opportunities for extended trips throughout the summer. This summer we look forward to continued partnership with the Bob Marshall Foundation, Wild Montana, Mission Mountain Youth Crew, and Glacier National Park.

A summer highlight includes a week-long college visitation trip to MSU with a focus on nanotechnology lab and field experience sponsored by the Montana Nanotechnology Facility on campus. Students will visit Yellowstone National Park and learn about its connection to related research at MSU.
