Hello everyone!

Today is our final Wellness Wednesday for the year. We will be spotlighting SKC Extension Garden here on campus at noon!
If you have never been to the garden here on campus, today is the day to go check it out. They will be showing us around the garden and talking about the work that they do there. If you have been curious about how you can get more involved around campus the SKC Extension Garden is always looking for volunteers so come ask some questions and get a lay of the land.
The SKC Extension Garden is located near the Johnny Arlee & Vic Charlo Theater and the Joe McDonald Health & Fitness Center. Also, view the map attached to this post!

We will be serving sandwiches for lunch and don't forget to bring your punch cards. There are many prizes to be won this quarter so please come get involved and get your name in the drawings.

We appreciate all of you want to thank you for giving us your time!

Bison Strong: Mental Health & Substance Use Awareness

At Salish Kootenai College, we know that mental health and substance use are often two parts of the same journey. National data shows that more than 1 in 4 adults with serious mental health conditions also experience substance use issues. Whole-person care means we don't just treat one part of a person; we support the whole story.

What Our Bison Data Tells Us:
According to 2025 ACHA-NCHA survey data here at SKC:

7.8% of students reported they were ever diagnosed with an alcohol or other substance use issue as part of an ongoing or chronic condition.

30% of these students have been in contact with a health or mental health provider within the last 12 months.

Help-Seeking is Bison Resiliency

Seeing a provider isn't just about "fixing a problem"—it’s about taking charge of your future. We are proud of the 30% of our Bison who have already taken that step. Choosing to connect with a professional shows incredible strength and helps ensure you have the tools to succeed in the classroom and beyond.

If you’re struggling with both mental health and substance use, you aren't alone, and you don't have to navigate it by yourself. Our community is here to walk with you.

It's 4/20, but the norm might not be what you think.
While the culture might say "everyone is doing it," our 2025 ACHA-NCHA data tells a different story.

The Data:

50.4% Never Used
76.9% Haven't used in the last 3 months
100% Supported by Center for Prevention & Wellness.

We know that for the 20.8% of students at moderate risk, the habit can start to feel heavy. It's Time to ungrind from the pressure and the hype.

If you’re looking to reset your relationship with cannabis, we've got tools to help you take a successful Tolerance Break (T-Break).

A T-Break helps you reclaim your sleep, your focus, and your budget.

Want the guide? Comment "UNGRIND" below and we will DM you the T-Break guide to help you get started! (Or check it out at go.uvm.edu/tbreak)
