🍎 That’s a wrap on APPLES! 🍎

We finished up our apple unit in the sweetest way possible—with homemade apple pies and Johnny Appleseed! 🌳🍏

Apple tasting, apple hunts, apple orchards, apple art, apple experiments, apple butter, apple jelly, apple pies… PHEW! 😅 It’s been a crazy month of ALL things apples!

Safe to say our Tiger Cubs are officially apple experts! 🐯

🐯 Meet our OT, Stacy Davis!

Mrs. Davis stops in a couple times a week and works with our Tiger Cubs on those important motor skills! 🖐️✨

Today’s challenge: Using tweezers to pick tiny gems out of Play-Doh! 💎 Not only is it fun, but all that pinching, pulling, and grabbing helps strengthen the little hand muscles needed for writing, cutting, buttoning, and so much more.

Our Tiger Cubs think they’re hunting for treasure… we know they’re learning! 😉

Our Tiger Cubs have been up to their ears in APPLES! 🐯 From apple pie and apple stamps to apple hats, taste tests, experiments, and more—we’ve squeezed every bit of learning we can out of our apple unit! 😂🍎

We’ve been counting, creating, tasting, measuring, exploring, and building those little fine-motor muscles along the way.

🔢Flip it, make it, build it!

Our Tiger Cubs are busy building number sense through hands-on learning! They’re flipping a number, making/showing that amount, and building it—helping them connect the number they see with what it actually means.

Learning math is way more fun when you can be hands-on and visualize it! 🧮✨

🔎 Apple investigations at JWPS! 🍏

Yesterday, our Tiger Cubs went on an apple hunt through the building to track down those sneaky “bad apples!” 👀🍎

Then it was time for some apple science with a sink or float experiment 💦, followed by the best kind of learning—a taste test! 😋 Red and green apples were put to the test to see which color was the class favorite. And what did they taste best with? Caramel or fruit dip?

Hunting, experimenting, tasting… we’re learning "bushels" at JWPS! 🐯

Ozawkie, KS - The Jefferson West Preschool received a $3,000 competitive grant from the Northeast Kansas Library System (NEKLS).

"We’re excited to share that our preschool received a grant to fill our library with new books for students to check out, take home, and enjoy with their families! The grant will also help supplement our classroom curriculum. We’re grateful for this support and excited to grow a love of reading in our students!" -Mrs. Lloyd

"Jefferson West Preschool is excited about growing our preschool library with the NEKLS grant. Preschool is foundational in making academic progress and a great library is an important "brick" in that structure. Our Tiger Cubs will benefit from this grant and the reading opportunities it brings. Thank you NEKLS for helping us grow our preschool program." - Mr. Sturgeon
