District administrators and Board of Education members visited East Elementary this week where two Tiger Team members gave a great tour! Board members learned how East students use goals (and get to ring the bell when they reach that goal), and they saw first-hand how teachers are bringing real-world learning into the classroom and giving students five-star experiences every day.
➡️ Our next Board of Education meeting is 7 p.m. Oct. 27 and you’re invited!

Last week, West Principal Rachel Tabuya lost her voice, so our Speech Language Pathologists came to the rescue, bringing her an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device so she could still communicate with students and staff. What a great learning experience for students!
➡️ October is actually AAC Awareness Month. According to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, AAC is used by people who, some or all of the time, cannot rely on their speech. AAC incorporates the individual's full communication abilities and may include any existing speech or vocalizations, gestures, manual signs, and aided communication.

❤️🖤 Photos show how our students often use AAC devices at school.

🎉 It’s Tuesday! 🎉 Ozark is excited to join other school districts across the region in celebrating teachers on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Today we’d like to honor the following teachers from across the District:
🐯 Tiger Paw - Katie Roussell is an outstanding teacher who helps everyone around her. Ms. Roussell creates a learning environment that meets the needs of all students and helps them grow and thrive in their goals. Ms. Roussell is a true team player who is committed to supporting every child.
❤️ North - Rachel Miller, a wonderful fourth grade teacher who pours her heart into her students and our North Elementary community! She builds strong relationships with students and families, supports her teammates, and always goes the extra mile. We are so lucky to have her at O.N.E.!
🖤 South - Allyson Haas is a special education teacher who advocates for her students. She collaborates with staff and families to build a strong, inclusive environment across our school community. Bringing deep expertise and fresh insight, she has already proven to be a wonderful addition to the Ozark South team!
🐯 East - The energy and enthusiasm Ms. Bethany Storey brings to teaching every single day is unbelievable. She’s super creative, always finding fresh ways to keep her students engaged, excited, and genuinely happy to be learning. You can’t walk by her classroom without feeling the positivity coming out of it. Thank you, Bethany, for everything you bring to East. We’re so lucky to have you on our team!
❤️ West - Joanna Goeden is an exceptional second-grade teacher who genuinely cares for her students and their success. She approaches challenges with a positive attitude, thinks creatively, and is always willing to find solutions that support both students and colleagues.

From supporting our new science team and contributing to department meetings to planning field trips and thinking ahead, she is the definition of proactive. Her students love discovering new science concepts with her, and she goes above and beyond to build meaningful connections with both students and families. We are so lucky to have her at OMS!
🐯 OJH - Abby Wright does a little bit of everything at OJH! From technology and the library to communications and social media, she helps keep our building connected, organized, and running smoothly. We appreciate all she does!

Stop, drop, roll … and cover your face! Did you know October is 🔥 Fire Prevention Month?
West kindergartners and 3rd graders learned about fire safety on Thursday, thanks to a visit from firefighters with the Ozark Fire Protection District. Students learned that when they hear the “beep, beep, beep” of the fire alarm, to get out and don’t look for a fire. And, once they are out, stay out.
🙏 We are so thankful our firefighters are willing to take time out of their day to help teach our students how to be safe!

Firefighters 🧑‍🚒 with the Ozark Fire Protection District stopped by Tiger Paw on Monday, giving our tiny Tigers an up-close look at the 🚒 fire truck, as well as some some important fire 🔥 safety tips! Students learned what a smoke detector sounds like, what it means to “get out and stay out,” how to crawl low to avoid breathing in smoke, and how to check a door for heat before opening it. They also got to see a firefighter in full gear so they could hear and see what a firefighter may look and sound like if they ever need help.

🙏 A big thank you to our local firefighters for helping our Tigers learn how to stay safe!
