We’ve got a beautiful feeling about tomorrow 💛

Tomorrow, Ozark High School Theatre will open the school's first ever musical- Oklahoma! This Rodgers and Hammerstein classic is an action-packed musical full of comedy, singing, and dancing.

We are so excited to bring this to the stage and hope to see many familiar faces there. Oklahoma! will run April 25-28. Shows on the 25-27 will begin at 7 p.m. and the Sunday matinee will begin at 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $10 for adults & $5 for students. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the show.

In just ONE week, Oklahoma! will hit the Ozark High School Theatre Stage 🤠

Make sure to attend Ozark High School's very first musical! Performances will be April 25-28. Performances on the 25-27 will begin at 7 p.m. and the Sunday matinee will begin at 2 p.m. Doors will open thirty minutes prior to each show. Tickets will be sold at the door & are $10 for adults & $5 for students. We hope to see you there!

Gertie Cummings, played by Claire Clifton, is a young woman from the next town over. She has her eyes on Curly and isn’t waiting around for Laurey to say no to him. She has a distinct laugh that is sure to make audiences hoot and holler. According to Claire, “I love Gertie’s laugh and how obnoxious she is. I’m also super excited for my dance solo in ‘The Farmer and the Cowman’. It’s such a fun number!”

Claire is a senior at OHS involved in FCA and Beta Club. She plans to attend ATU-Russellville and major in Nursing. Her previous roles on the OHS stage include Gertie (Silver Belles) and Melinda (Halloween Spooktacular). Her favorite theatre memory is “getting ready before the shows. I love helping with hair and makeup while we all sing and dance backstage. I will miss it so much!”

Claire especially loves all of the group work involved with doing shows: “Working together to make the show come alive is always so rewarding! There are so many people involved, and it’s great to see all of the talent. I think audiences will enjoy watching all of us sing, dance, and have fun on stage!”

Father Carnes, played by Garret Little, is Ado Annie’s over-protective, shotgun-toting father. He dislikes cowboys, especially Will Parker. Audiences are sure to enjoy Carnes’ solo in “The Farmer and the Cowman”. Garret is especially excited for Oklahoma! because “this is my first role on stage ever! I’m so excited to make audiences laugh. I love all of the comedic bits that Father Carnes has in the show-especially with Aunt Eller (played by Zoey Doss).”

Garret is a freshman at OJHS and is a member of the marching band. His favorite part of Oklahoma! is the Box Social & Auction Scene. According to Garret, “This scene is so fun, and Aunt Eller is hilarious! I also think audiences will enjoy the big musical numbers in Oklahoma! especially ‘Kansas City’. Will Parker (played by Bryce Gregory) is so talented!”

Jud Fry, played by Max Tolbert, is a hired farm hand who works for Aunt Eller & Laurey. He is not well-liked by others and has strong feelings for Laurey. Jud has an especially dark side, and audiences can watch Jud struggle with this in the “Dream Ballet”. Max’s favorite part of playing a character like Jud has been “being able to build a character with so much depth. Jud is a disturbing character, and it’s been a good challenge as an actor to play someone who is so different from myself. I especially like the ‘Dream Ballet’ because it’s the pinnacle of Jud’s character development, and I think it reveals how evil he actually is.”

Max is a sophomore at OHS in the Social Studies Club and FBLA. His previous roles on the OHS stage include Frank Davenport (Silver Belles), the Angry Audience Member (Halloween Spooktacular), the Marshall (Saga of the Golden Horseshoe), Lion/Father Baker (Twelve Huntsmen), and Doctor (The Alibis).

Max loves all of the comedy in Oklahoma!- “I think audiences will enjoy watching the love triangle between Ali Hakim, Ado Annie, and Will Parker. Their scenes give audiences a fun break and some humor after watching the more tense scenes between Laurey, Curley, and Jud.”

Ali Hakim, played by Jackson Harris, is a gimmicky, “Persian” peddler who travels around selling to towns in the West. He loves women, but doesn’t want to get married. Ali performs the hilarious “It’s a Scandal! It’s a Outrage” and gets into plenty of hijinks on stage. Jackson’s favorite part of playing Ali Hakim has been “doing the accent work. He’s such a goofy character- like me.”

Jackson is a senior at OHS. He plans to attend UAFS and major in Organizational Leadership. His previous roles on the OHS stage include Steve (Silver Belles), Peter the Mad Scientist (Halloween Spooktacular), and Father (The Alibis). His favorite theatre memory has been “getting to do shows with Claire Clifton. She’s my best friend, and it’s so fun sharing the stage with her!”

Jackson’s favorite parts of Oklahoma! include making inside jokes with the cast and doing Ali Hakim’s scenes with Will Parker (played by Bryce Gregory). “Bryce and I love to joke around, and he gets really into his character. I think audiences will enjoy watching him and Jud Fry (played by Max Tolbert). Max makes the show!”

Ado Annie, played by Kennedy Tedford, is a young woman who has just recently “growed up” and caught the attention of boys. She’s a flirt who gets involved with both Ali Hakim and Will Parker. Ado Annie brings a ton of humor to Oklahoma! and audiences will love watching her character struggle with her more flirtatious ways in the songs “I Cain’t Say No” and “All ‘Er Nuthin”. Kennedy has loved playing Ado Annie because “she is so fun! She’s unapologetically herself and has so much confidence.”

Kennedy is a sophomore at OHS and is a member of the Cheer Team, Special Olympics, FBLA, FCA, and Beta Club. Her previous roles on the OHS stage include Mrs. Clause (Star Bucks), Dracula (Halloween Spooktacular), Holly Daze (North Pole’s Got Talent), and a News Anchor/Taxi Driver (The Alibis). According to Kennedy, “My favorite part of Oklahoma! is the song ‘Oklahoma!’ because it’s the hype song of the show! I also think audiences are going to enjoy ‘The Farmer and the Cowman’ because of how upbeat it is. It gets audiences ready for all of the drama in Act II”

Will Parker, played by Bryce Gregory, is a cowboy and professional cattle roper who is in love with Ado Annie. He’s not always the brightest, but his heart is in the right place. Will brings in a ton of pep and spirit in the toe-tapping “Kansas City” and the humorous “All ‘Er Nuthin”. Bryce has loved his time as Will Parker because “he’s energetic and speaks his mind. He’s like the fun cousin in the family.”

Bryce is a sophomore at OHS in FFA and Beta Club. Much like his character, Bryce is a cattle showman and is on the Ozark Show Team. One of Bryce’s favorite parts of Oklahoma! is that “all of the characters are part of a small community like in Ozark. The story and the relationships feel very relatable. I also like how the show ends. It feels like the show comes to a good conclusion.” Aside from the music, “I think audiences will enjoy the songs and will appreciate all of the solo and ensemble work. The songs are all entertaining, but the cast is what brings it to life.”
