A special thank you to Dr. Tom Link for visiting our kindergarteners as part of our Fast Heroes unit! Dr. Link, a neurosurgeon, taught students about what happens when someone arrives at the hospital with a stroke and how doctors help treat “evil clots.” We are grateful for community members who help make learning meaningful and memorable for our students.

First and Second Grade students enjoyed a beautiful day at the Bronx Zoo learning about animal adaptations. The trip tied in perfectly with what they’ve been studying in class, as first graders have been learning about endangered species and second graders have been exploring world geography. Winner, winner! Congratulations to some of our Gala auction winners who enjoyed these one-of-a-kind East Woods experiences. Students had a wonderful time at Paint Your Pet Night with Mrs. Corbett, while parents and faculty spent a few Tuesday evenings learning the art of ceramics with Mr. Daly. From working on the pottery wheel to creating slip-cast pieces, participants crafted beautiful functional works of art, including cups and vases. The results were truly amazing!

Nursery students had a special surprise today as Pilot Pat visited the classrooms to read a book about how airplanes fly! Students loved asking questions about being a pilot, and each child went home with a pilot’s hat and model airplane. We love our community!
