Got to spend the last few days at the NAfME National Conference at the Ga***rd Convention Center in DC. This conference reminded me not only why I became a music educator, but why I wanted to go into higher education.

I was so happy and excited to get to share my dissertation research on Music Literacy Skills Across the Nation as well as a session on teaching music literacy skills in the elementary choir! It was great to catch up with old friends, make new ones, and have a great partner with me!

So excited to be selected to present a poster session on my dissertation research! My poster session is titled “Who is Teaching What? Music Literacy Skills Across the Nation” at the National Conference in November! I was selected out of 491 research proposals! Can’t wait to share what I’ve learned!

Had a blast working with the middle school students in Washington County for the past two days! It was a pleasure being back to work with such talented students and teachers!

Is your child interested in theatre? Check out our summer camp at the Whitaker Center this summer! All students can be a part of the show! Auditions are NOT required to be a part of the camp. Those who are interested in parts with solos and leading roles will be required to audition.

Looking for something for your kids to do this summer? Come have them learn to play the Ukulele with me!

There will be two offerings!

1. July 12-16 (Entering 6th - 8th graders can learn how to play the Uke at the Capital Area Intermedia Unit in Enola)

2. July 26-29 (Entering 3rd - 5th graders can learn how to play the Uke at the Capital Area Intermedia Unit in Enola)

Students will have to provide their own Ukulele for the camp.

Had such a wonderful time at the Eastern Division American Choral Director’s Association Conference! Not only did I get to present at the conference but I got to see some wonderful performances and presentations from my friends and colleagues up and down the Eastern seaboard. I also got to catch up with two Barbara Ingram school for the Arts alumni while I was in Rochester. Adam Shank who is loving his time in the musical theatre program at Nazareth University and Connor Buckley who was one of three undergraduate students selected for a conducting masterclass with Marguerite Brooks from Yale. Connor did a stunning job. ACDA events always recharge and inspire me. I can’t wait to get back into the classroom to work with some of the new ideas I have learned this weekend.
