This past Monday we hosted my instructor, Professor Shawn Williams, for a seminar at the academy. It was a great chance for our students to learn high-level, current techniques from someone who’s been around the sport at the highest levels.

For me, it also meant a lot to have the opportunity to learn again from the person who played a big role in inspiring me to teach. I believe it’s important to respect your lineage and appreciate the people who helped shape your path.

Great seminar, and I was also honored to receive my 3rd degree on my black belt. 🙏🏾

He trains twice a day—multiple times a week—is an amazing kids coach, and even while focused on his own improvement, he’s always helping his teammates day in and day out. Oh—and did I mention he got hit by a car and still showed up to class? Congratulations, Coach!
