5 | 30 | 2026 - Today Derek Luna will be running at the State Track and Field Championships! Derek has put in an excellent season and wishes to finish it with a huge win. Derek will be running in the 3200 State Final, competing among the best athletes in California! He will be running in Clovis, CA at Buchanan High School. Let’s cheer him on as he represents Rio Mesa!

Race Day! Today Jodey Conyers and Derek Luna will both be competing at the CIF Southern Section Masters, in hope to qualify for the CIF State meet. Track events will start at 12:00 PM at Moorpark High School. Both athletes will be racing in the STATE qualifying heat where they need to be top 6 OR hit the automatic qualifying time in order to advance. Best of luck to our athletes!

5/16/2026 - Derek Luna ran at CIF - Finals, where he finished 1st in Division 2 for the 3200 meters with a blazing time of 9:01.79, marking a new PB by over a second. Derek advances to the CIF Masters meet as one of the top marks in CIF Southern Section, where he will run in the State Qualifying heat on Saturday, where he needs to place in the top 6 or hit the auto time to qualify for the state meet.

5/16/2026 - Jodey Conyers ran at CIF-Finals, where he finished 4th in Division 2 with a time of 38.71 for the 300 Meter Hurdles. A new PB mark by nearly a whole second! This new standing marks him as the Number 1 sophomore in the Southern Section. Jodey advances to the CIF Masters meet, where he will run in the State Qualifying heat on Saturday, where he needs to place in the top 6 or hit the auto time to qualify for the state meet.

Interested in trying out for Cross Country Next Season? We will be having our Cross Country interest meeting on 5/20/2026 during School Lunch Time.
BOYS Will be meeting in Room 10 during lunch time and
GIRLS Will be meeting in Room 54 during lunch.
Cross country is a great sport to get in shape for other sports such as soccer or track, build endurance and meet new people along the way!

Race Day! Today we will be competing at the Channel League Finals at Oxnard High School 🏃‍♂️. Track events start at 3:00 PM, Shotput and High Jump start at 2 and lastly Discus and Long Jump start at 1.

4 | 15 | 2026. Last League meet of the season! Tri-Meet against Ventura and Santa Barbara at Ventura high School 📍. Spartans took home the win against Santa Barbara on both the Girls and Men’s side! Good way to end the season with our last meet coming up, Channel league Finals!

Ventura County Champion! On 4 | 24 | 2026, Brooklyn Bittner threw 34-04.25 in Shotput at the Ventura County Championships marking a new Personal best! With a previous best of 33’ 2”, this marks over a 1 foot pr! These standings put Brooklyn as
2nd in Channel league in shotput and with an outstanding PR of 108’ 2” in Discus, this puts her as
4th in Channel league for discus!
Brooklyn is a Senior and continues to strive for a great conclusion!

Ventura County Champion! On 4 | 24 | 2026, Jodey Conyers ran 39.70 in the 300 Meter Hurdles at the Ventura County Championships. With a PR of 39.61, this mark places him as the
11th Sophomore in California
And 2nd in one of the most competitive leagues in the state of California, Channel League.
He is only a sophomore and making incredible marks here at Rio Mesa.
