The Winter Solstice Today.... here it arrives at 9:27 AM, Central Standard Time. The sun reaches the farthest point south in its annual migration this day, i.e. the shortest day of the year and the beginning of Winter. Holly, evergreen boughs, lights, gifts, and feasting, part of the festivities since ancient times. We still do it.
