Hello Friends,
We are looking forward to hosting our annual Currere Exchange meeting online on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Register for the conference and submit a proposal to present by June 1. Go to our website homepage at...
www.currereexchange.com
..and use the navigation tabs at our website which will take you to "Registration" and to "Submit a Proposal." It's easy to submit a short proposal and our cost this year again is only $40, which helps us pay for editing costs for the journal. Your participation helps keep our journal, now in its 9th volume, going...
We had a good turnout for our meeting last year and hope to surpass it this year. This year, our great friend Dr. Dorothy Heard of Montclair St. University will be our keynote speaker and discussant. More on her appearance to come. Also, Claire Metzger will be with us again this year for an afternoon writing workshop representing Miami's well-known Howe Center for Writing Excellence.
We are looking forward to seeing your proposals soon, and you at our meeting! information.
Best Regards,
Tom Poetter, CEJ Editor and Conference Host
Tahreem Fatima, CEJ Assistant Editor and Conference Host

Thanks to everyone who has taken an interest in my new book, Curriculum Fragments: A Currere Journey through Life Processes (Routledge, 2024) and to everybody who came out for my book talk in St. Marys, Ohio, my hometown, on September 18. That event was the start of a series of book talks by local authors in the St. Marys area around the time of the St. Marys Memorial Alumni Foundation Hall of Fame Weekend each Autumn in the coming years.
For the first edition of St. Marys Celebrates: Education, Writing, and the Power of Stories, Doug Spencer hosted, introduced the program, and I gave a talk followed by a panel discussion with Laura Yelton, John Grindrod, and Doug, all of whom had read the book and prepared questions and comments for discussion with me and the audience. If you scroll the video, Doug's introduction is the first 10 minutes, followed by my talk lasting until the 50 minute mark, and the panel discussion runs the remainder of the tape. I want to extend my deepest thanks to Laura and John and Doug who read Curriculum Fragments ahead of the event, had great questions and insights, and shared the stage with such skill and grace. Rich Spencer ran the video and Dean Axe was on sound. Ann Vogel provided music for the audience on the Richard Hudson piano ahead of the talk and, of course, Doug ran the show with great expertise, as always. Mary Jo Hudson, lifelong friend and event sponsor, was on hand along with many other friends and family in the audience.
Thanks to all for welcoming me home. What a great night. If you take a look, let me know what you think of the program.

I wanted to take just a few lines to thank everyone who came out last night to the St. Marys Theater for the first iteration of what we are calling “St. Marys Celebrates: Education, Writing and Stories.” The wider community and friends have been so supportive of this effort and so receptive to my new book, Curriculum Fragment: A Currere Journey through Life Processes. Doug and the great staff at the theater were terrific hosts, the venue is beautiful and functions great, and the panelists Laura Yelton and John Grindrod were just stellar, insightful, kind. Many thanks again to the sponsors and friends and Doug in particular for making it one of the most memorable and best events and experiences in my life and career. It was just great to see and connect with so many friends last night! Best to all, Tommy

Please join friends and colleagues to launch my new book just out with Routledge. Thanks to Kieran Forde and Bill Pinar for hosting the event and to Denise Baszile and Morna McDermott McNulty for joining in as panelists. Hope to see you in the room Thursday. Tp
