We were thrilled to pick these three young ladies as the recipient of Brittany's scholarship. We feel that Britany would've counted them each as close friends. 💜 ⚓

Only one month away from scholarship applications being open! Please let any high school seniors AND college students know about this amazing opportunity through the Shiawassee Community Foundation. 🎓 ⚕️

📣 Congratulations to the 2024 Brittany Buchholz Memorial Scholarship winners, Quinn Skarich, Kenzee DeFrenn, and Jaidyn Sadler! 🎉

Brittany Buchholz was a vibrant young woman whose love for life and others was tragically cut short by cancer at the age of 23. She excelled as a student, passionate dancer, baker, and animal lover. Brittany cherished time with her family and friends, participated in color guard, and volunteered at Humane Societies. She graduated as Valedictorian of the Corunna High School class of 2012 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Hope College. Brittany worked as a Patient Care Tech at Memorial Healthcare.

The Brittany Buchholz Memorial Scholarship supports Shiawassee County graduates with high GPAs who demonstrate good citizenship and are involved in community service or volunteer work. Financial need is considered. Preference is given to students who:

Plan to study in medical, education, or child development fields
Have 4-H involvement
Plan to attend Hope College
Are active in band, cheer, and/or dance
We are proud to honor Brittany’s legacy through Quinn, Kenzee, and Jaidyn's dedication and achievements. Here’s to their bright futures and positive impact on our communities! 🌟

💜 From The Buchholz Family: We are so excited to tell you (that) Brittany’s Memorial Scholarship Fund, through the Shiawassee Community Foundation, will be awarded again this Spring to support a deserving individual’s college expenses!

Last year, we had two wonderful recipients who both are pursuing a career in nursing. It took 5 years to be able to make this scholarship a reality, and we are delighted to be able to offer it again. We know that Brittany would be thrilled with this achievement. Everyone who knew Brittany knew how much she
valued education and the commitment she poured into succeeding in school. She would have absolutely loved
knowing her legacy would support others to achieve that same goal!

Please visit this link to read about Brittany and her scholarship criteria: www.shiacf.org/scholarships/scholarship-donor-history/.

We welcome you to share the information with anyone you know that is college bound from Shiawassee County. Brittany’s scholarship is just one of many to apply for!

If you would like to donate to her scholarship, please make checks out to the Shiawassee Community Foundation. You can also select DONATE at the link provided above. Be sure to select the Brittany Buchholz Memorial Fund. This ensures that we can continue to award the scholarship for future years to come. Your donation will be tax deductible and so helpful for those
who hope to attend college.

Thank you very much for sharing this information, your consideration in giving, and a big thank you to all who
already donated and made this scholarship possible.

Thank you!

⚓ "I want to be remembered for my warm, compassionate personality and my desire to help others." 💜

🍂 September is always a rough month. Friday, September 8️⃣ marked the six-year anniversary of Brittany's passing.

We would like to do something special this year to celebrate her life. Please comment your favorite memory of Brittany. Feel free to include your favorite photos of her or message them to us so we can make an album celebrating the light and love she gave us. ✨

🍁 We'll start. Brittany loved picking apples and visiting pumpkin patches with her friends. She enjoyed painting pumpkins. She was also the master baker. 🥧
