There are moments when you realize you were never meant to walk this journey alone.

My Ẹgbẹ́ initiation reminded me of the power of support and the hands that hold you, the people who steady you, the community that surrounds you, and the spiritual companionship that may not always be seen but can certainly be felt.

In our tradition, Ẹgbẹ́ teaches us about belonging and connection. Sometimes the support we need comes through the people standing beside us. Sometimes it comes through those who pray for us, carry us, guide us and make sure we reach the other side.

And sometimes, we simply know: I am not walking alone.

This moment will always remind me to honor those who held me—physically, spiritually and communally—as I crossed another threshold in my journey.

Words can not express! I made my journey to Oyo because Egbe insisted it was time. The blessings I received were over and above my best imagination. The power and blessings of The Highest Ranking Sango in the world, illustrates how serious my Egbe were about blessing me!

Allow me to introduce myself…
Egbefemi Apeki, Egbe Iyalode!

It’s been seven years since I prayed so much, made so many offerings and felt such Asé and support. The journey was well worth it. Egbe showed up in full force…like a massive crowd, they had me swaying back and forth!!!

I pray I live up to the honors and elevation bestowed on me. I pray adherence to my taboos and the honor of my Egbe blesses me more than I could imagine. I pray these blessings extend to my family, community and ultimately the world.

I have a HUGE TRIBE Y’ALL!!

Thanks to all who supported me with prayers and blessings. I’m not gon lie, I needed them all!!!

May my Egbe be pleased. May I never embarrass them and may I quickly recognize my Egbe who are in cahoots with me, on this earthly journey.
