“Every step won’t look like elevation.
Some steps are about alignment.”

We’ve been conditioned to think progress always looks like going UP.

But sometimes the most important leadership move is the one that gets you back into alignment with your vision, values and purpose.

Don’t measure every step by how high it takes you. Measure it by whether it’s taking you where you’re supposed to go.

Keep moving with purpose.

🚶🏾‍♀️ : Are you moving—or are you making progress?

There’s a difference.

A full calendar doesn’t guarantee forward movement.
A long to-do list doesn’t guarantee impact.
And being busy doesn’t mean you’re getting closer to the vision.

Sometimes leadership requires us to stop and ask:

Is what I’m doing actually aligned with where I say I’m going?

If the answer is no, it may be time to adjust the route.

Get aligned. Get intentional. Get moving.

💬 What’s one thing you’re realigning before you head into next week?

I lead with vision, but I stay rooted in relationships. People first. Always.

Thirty years in public education have given me plenty of opportunities to lead—to cast vision, develop strategies, implement initiatives, navigate conflict and drive change.

But here’s what 30 years have made crystal clear:

You can have the right vision and still lose the people you need to bring it to life.

Leadership isn’t just about where you’re going. It’s about how you steward the people who are going there with you.

Know them.
Listen to them.
Develop them.
Challenge them.
Value their gifts.
Build trust before you need to make a withdrawal from it.

That’s why I say relationships are not soft skills. They are leadership skills.

30 years of leadership. A lifetime of impact. And I’m still learning, leading and disrupting.

💙 : Moving forward requires more than moving on.

One of the lessons from The Sisterhood Shift is that resolving conflict isn’t about pretending it didn’t happen. It’s about deciding what we’re going to do differently because it did.

That requires a SHIFT:

Reacting ➡️ Responding
Assuming ➡️ Clarifying
Talking ABOUT ➡️ Talking WITH
Protecting positions ➡️ Protecting relationships

Remember:

Conflict is inevitable. Division is optional. Growth is intentional.

It’s still Retreat Season, and this is the perfect time to ask some courageous questions about your chapter, organization, or leadership team:

Are we just planning what we’re going to DO this year—or are we also strengthening HOW we will work together?

Because strategy can’t save what relationships sabotage.

If your retreat needs more than icebreakers and goal setting, let’s talk. I bring practical, engaging experiences around conflict, relational leadership, team development, and organizational effectiveness.

💡 TUESDAY TIP: Run a 3-Step Alignment Audit

👀 CHECK IT. Does what you SAY match what you DO?

🔍 AUDIT IT. Do what you REWARD & TOLERATE match what you value?

🎯 ALIGN IT. Identify the gap. Make the adjustment. Lead differently.

Here’s the takeaway from Issue #15 of The Disruptive Leader Newsletter:

🔥 Alignment isn’t proven by what you proclaim. It’s revealed by what you practice.

What needs realignment in your leadership this week?

Does what you SAY match what you DO?

And does what you do match what you reward and tolerate? 👀

That’s the challenge in Issue #15 of The Disruptive Leader Newsletter: The Alignment Audit.

Misalignment doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it looks like busy teams, mixed messages, inconsistent accountability, and a culture that doesn’t reflect the values on the wall.

Here’s the Disruptive Takeaway:

🔥 “Alignment isn’t proven by what you proclaim. It’s revealed by what you practice.”

🎶 Sunday. Music on. Getting in rhythm for the week ahead.

If you know me, you know music is my jam! There’s something about the right song that helps me reset, refocus, and get in the zone.

Leadership works the same way.

Every week won’t have the same tempo. Sometimes you need to push. Sometimes you need to pause. Sometimes you need to listen long enough to realize the rhythm has changed.

Great leaders don’t just set the pace—they know how to find the rhythm.

So before Monday starts demanding something from you, take a moment to get centered and get in your zone.

Conflict is inevitable. Division is optional. Growth is intentional.

Today, I had the privilege of bringing The Sisterhood Shift: Moving Forward After Conflict to my HOME TEAM—Alpha Zeta Chapter’s Leadership Academy. 💙

And we went there.

Because sisterhood isn’t proven when everybody agrees. It’s revealed in how we communicate, repair, extend grace, hold one another accountable, and move forward when we DON’T.

We talked about the SHIFT from:
Reacting ➡️ Responding
Assuming ➡️ Clarifying
Talking ABOUT ➡️ Talking WITH
Protecting positions ➡️ Protecting relationships

Thank you to my home team for the opportunity to share my expertise as a leadership strategist and Conflict Connoisseur with the sisterhood that I call home.

Now I want to hear from you: What does moving forward after conflict require from YOU?

If your organization, team, chapter, or leadership group is ready to strengthen relationships and navigate conflict differently, let’s work.

I didn’t just enter education—I answered a call.

As I begin my 30th year in public education, I’ve been reflecting on just how much that call has required—and how much it has given me.

I’ve taught. I’ve led. I’ve built. I’ve challenged. I’ve coached. I’ve learned. I’ve disrupted.

And through every role, one truth has remained: the position may change, but the purpose doesn’t. It gets bolder. It gets broader.

Thirty years later, I’m still answering the call—only now the classroom is bigger.

Through The Disruptive Leader, my newsletter, coaching, workshops, training, and speaking, I’m helping leaders build stronger relationships, navigate conflict, create clarity, and lead transformational change.

🍎 30 YEARS. ENDLESS PURPOSE.

Wednesday Wisdom: There’s a difference between knowing someone is gifted and recognizing that they are a gift.

As leaders, we don’t simply manage talent. We steward people through relationships.

That means knowing their gifts, understanding their value, and creating the conditions for them to contribute, grow, and thrive.

That’s relational intelligence.

Because when you truly know the people you lead, you stop asking only, “What can they do?” and start recognizing, “What do they bring simply because of who they are?”
